A Man with Nerves of Steel (Joseph Hart) novel Chapter 143

Chapter 143

The next day, the moment Cora stepped out of her bedroom, she found that Joseph was already waiting in the living room.

Joseph said, “You’re going dressed like that? Fine, whatever. Let’s just get it done with.”

Cora was dressed very casually that day. Her hair was tied into a simple ponytail, and she lacked the sharp look of a business tycoon. Instead, she looked just like an ordinary housewife who rarely left home.

“I…” Cora hesitated.

“I’m not feeling well today. I’m just going to continue sleeping.” Then, Cora rubbed her temples, acting like her head was hurting.

“Cora, I’m a doctor. Is there any point in acting sick?” Joseph walked over, only to discover that Cora had already retreated into the bedroom and locked the door. Despite his knocking and kicking the door, she refused to open it.

A short while later, Ella entered the living room. Before Joseph could react, she subdued him and tied his hands behind his back, securing him to the couch.

Joseph’s expression darkened. “How dare you treat your employer like this?”

Ella remained expressionless. “I only listen to Cora. Your threats mean nothing to me.”

Once she was satisfied Joseph couldn’t escape, she reported back to Cora.

Soon afterward, Cora emerged from her room. Standing before him, she said, “Honey, what exactly has gotten into your head? Why are you so determined to divorce me?”

Joseph protested, “If I say I’m not divorcing you anymore, will you untie me? Fine, then I’m not divorcing you. Let me go!”

Joseph didn’t struggle since there was no point.

Cora said, “That’s more like it. We’re not getting a divorce. And you’re going to stay home and take care

of the children and me…”

Joseph shouted, “Don’t push your luck!”

Cora shrugged. “Push my luck? Haven’t I treated you well enough?”

Joseph sneered. “Yes, you definitely have. You’ve treated me so well, and that’s why I’m asking you for a divorce. It’s just for your own good. I’m not as outstanding as that other man. I know my place, so I’ll step aside. You get what you want, and I get to keep my dignity. Everyone wins.
