A Man with Nerves of Steel (Joseph Hart) novel Chapter 152

Chapter 152

Fiona and Joseph headed to the hospital together and entered a ward.

Joseph pointed at Ella, who was still unconscious, then said to Fiona, “This is Cora’s housekeeper and bodyguard. Go settle her medical expenses later. You can figure out if you want to compensate her for getting injured on the job or whatever.”

Fiona gasped in surprise, finally realizing how Joseph made it home last night. “What happened to her?”

Joseph returned to work, but not before saying casually, “She was probably beaten up for doing too many bad deeds.”

When Joseph left Jason’s ward, he bumped into Bernard outside. He immediately turned around and left through another corridor.

Even so, by noon, Bernard and several others cornered him in his office.

“Joseph, what are you doing? Why haven’t you saved Jason and Avery yet?” Bernard demanded. In his eyes, Joseph hadn’t managed to save Jason because he was useless. He was so angry that he nearly slapped Joseph on the spot.

“We’ve already done everything we can. We’ve mobilized every specialist and resource we have. We’ve even held at least three consultations with the experts you hired from out of Jenton. Doctors are humans too. We’ve truly done everything we can.” Joseph had to force himself to remain calm instead of arguing.

“Save that nonsense for someone else. I want you to use your true abilities and save them right now.” Bernard refused to believe Joseph.

For some reason, Bernard had a feeling that Joseph was deliberately holding something back.

“I’m just an ordinary man. I’m merely an associate chief physician. How much responsibility are you going to pile on my shoulders? How much do you think I can bear?” Joseph’s expression was full of helplessness and sadness.
