“Sign this contract immediately,” ordered Bernard, pointing at the contract on the desk.

Joseph glanced at it. It was the procurement contract between the hospital and New World Group’s

pharmaceutical subsidiary. In fact, it was the original copy that he had already rejected. He replied, “This contract is unreasonable. I’m not signing it.”

After another failed attempt to pressure Joseph, Bernard brought in his bodyguard. Bernard stared at Joseph and asked, “Are you signing it or not?”

“Bernard, what gives you the right to demand this of me? Do you still consider me your son-in-law?” Joseph

stared back at Bernard.

“If you sign it, you’re my son-in-law. If you don’t, you aren’t,” replied Bernard. It was obvious that he didn’t regard Joseph as his son-in-law, whether or not the latter signed.
