Chapter 192
“Don’t blame me for this, Selena. Even though you’re not my daughter, the bond we’ve shared over the years was neither fake nor shallow.
“But Cora betrayed me, and that’s the hand you were dealt. My hands are tied. Now that you know the truth, the only thing you can do is accept it and face it!”
After the call ended, Joseph chain-smoked, feeling incredibly bitter inside. He came close to breaking down a few times, but he had no choice but to hold himself together.
He had so much he wanted to say, but there was hardly anyone who truly understood him. He felt lonely and unheard.
Love arose quietly and naturally, like the wind. But even after everything had ended, the feelings remained difficult to let go of.
After years of deep affection and sacrifice, he was met with nothing but betrayal. He simply could not come to terms with this.
Since Joseph was unable to focus on work, he left the hospital. He found a restaurant right outside and asked for a quiet private room. The food had just arrived when he saw Cora walk in with Fiona and the others.
Just as he had expected!
“Fiona, you guys should leave. I want to have this meal with Cora.”
Joseph sent Fiona and the others away. He then noticed Cora wasn’t touching the food. Clearly, she was unimpressed with the food here.
Unlike her, he wasn’t fussy at all. While eating, he asked, “Why are you looking at me like that? Are you thinking about biting my head off or something?”
“You… How could you talk about Selena like that? What’s wrong with you? How did you turn out like this? You’re being completely unreasonable!” Cora snapped at Joseph.
She wanted nothing more than to dump the food in front of her over his head, but she was also worried he might actually snap and do something extreme.
“You’re saying I’m unreasonable? But I’m pretty sure you’re the unreasonable one! Take a look at this. This is the truth!”
Joseph pulled out two documents from his bag. They were the DNA test results between him, Cora, and Selena. Selena was not his daughter, but she was Cora’s daughter.
“These can’t be real! It’s absolutely impossible!”
