A Man with Nerves of Steel (Joseph Hart) novel Chapter 212

Chapter 212

Paige was the person Joseph trusted the most in the hospital. He had Paige go with him to Frank’s ward and asked her to stand guard outside.

After a round of acupuncture, Joseph restored Frank’s ability to write.

Frank scribbled. “Why is Wendy here? What does she want?”

Joseph replied, “She wants your money. She said she needs it for living expenses and for plastic surgery. Also, she needs to give Warren some money. I didn’t agree to her request, and didn’t tell her you can write now. Personally, I think your money should go to your wife, lover, and children.”

After a pause, Joseph added, “By the way, did you know about Wendy and Warren? They’ve been in a relationship for years. Warren kept saying it wasn’t time for her to get married because she wanted him all to herself.”

Joseph made sure to whisper into Frank’s ear, making sure that Frank could hear him while Paige couldn’t.

Frank’s eyes suddenly widened in agitation. He hurriedly wrote, “Don’t let that bastard get the money. He’s an animal! Joseph, help me kill him, and I’ll give you a huge sum of money.”

Joseph sneered. “Don’t talk to me about money. That’s not what our deal is about. It’s about finding the man Cora cheated on me with. If that man turns out to be you, then our deal is off.

“I’ll make sure you die slowly under my care. I’ll make your organs fail one after another, then surgically remove them one at a time.”

Joseph’s words rendered Frank momentarily silent. He looked at Joseph in horror, as if Joseph were a demon, and sweat broke out across his forehead.

A moment later, liquid began flowing through the catheter tube attached to him. He had literally wet himself from fear. “I don’t have that sort of relationship with Cora. It’s strictly business between us. Don’t misunderstand.”

Joseph continued, “I asked Cora about Warren, but she denied ever sleeping with him. So tell me something, Ashmore. Are you playing me for a fool? I can visit the hospital where your wife and son are staying, or even have them transferred here. Then, I can personally finish them off.”

Frank’s hand moved quickly. “Joseph, don’t be reckless. Don’t touch my son. I’m begging you, Joseph. Please…”
