Chapter 257

After getting out of the car, Joseph watched Belinda drive away. His expression turned grave. Ever since learning that the children weren’t his, he had every right to hate Cora. People would either laugh at him or pity him. Because of that, mentioning revenge against her hadn’t raised Belinda’s suspicions.
Still, Joseph wasn’t convinced of Belinda’s sincerity or capability. He doubted she could actually burn/down Lowell Group. If she somehow pulled it off, Cora would be pushed into a desperate situation. 1
By then, the man protecting Cora would have no choice but to step forward. The man would most likely be her lover. Now, all Joseph could do was wait.
On the way back to the hospital, Joseph stayed silent. Dave didn’t dare to ask any questions either, assuming they concerned Belinda.
Back in the office, Joseph scrolled through his contacts. When he saw Grace’s name, another idea came to him. They could strike Zachary and Yasmin or the other members of the Croma faction.
The logic was that after New World Group was burned down, the Croma faction retaliated by eliminating Warren and Maroon Mansion. Thus, Lowell Group had suffered losses.
Naturally, Cora would retaliate against Zachary and the others. Then, the Croma faction would answer by setting fire to Lowell Group.
The only problem was that Joseph needed someone to carry it out. The only contact Joseph could think of was someone he had gotten to know via Nathan. That person had burned down New World Group. To avoid suspicion, he had left Jenton.
So, Joseph could only contact Nathan again and have the latter find someone else. This time, all he needed was a staged traffic accident. No deaths would be involved.
That night, Joseph went to see Grace. As they talked, their relationship grew even closer. She didn’t mind that he lit a cigarette afterward while sitting on the bed. In fact, she thought he looked attractive when he smoked.
However, what he said next instantly shattered the peaceful mood. He mentioned that there would probably be another fire soon. If nothing unexpected happened, the target would be Lowell Group. He told her to return to Croma and never come back to Jenton.
Grace was stunned. She asked, “Are you behind this too?”
“No, I don’t have that kind of reach anymore. Last time was pure luck. The man needed money. If I used him again, he would be exposed. It’ll be someone else this time. I can’t tell you who. I won’t betray the person helping me. When everything is over, I’ll tell you,” said Joseph.
“The fact that you’re willing to tell me this means you trust me. I’m grateful for that, but I’m not leaving,” replied Grace.
“If Cora and her lover start retaliating, they won’t care who gets caught in the crossfire. You’ll be in danger too. I don’t want you getting hurt. So, you should leave,” stated Joseph.
Grace muttered, “I can protect myself…”
“Can you? How did you fall into someone else’s trap last time then?” Joseph questioned.
Grace responded, “That was different. There was a traitor on our side working with Cora’s people. I never imagined people could be that cruel. Now, I’m much more careful.”

“Zachary had a hand in that too, didn’t he? In that case, it’s time he paid the price. Send him to Jenton University Hospital, and I’ll perform a penectomy on him,” said Joseph.
