“You have to be careful!” Grace reminded Joseph again before seeing him off the next day. Then, she got ready and left to handle her own business.

He repeated the process that afternoon until he had everything he needed. After that, he left work early. Upon arriving at the laboratory in Crest District, he began synthesizing what he had planned.

At around 8:00 pm, Joseph received a call from Cora, telling him to return home. He replied that he was busy and refused to go back. Less than 30 minutes later, a car horn sounded outside the laboratory. She had come over.

He didn’t bother opening the gate. His car was already taking up the space inside-even if he opened it, she wouldn’t be able to get her car in.

“What did I do wrong this time?” Cora asked, not expecting Joseph’s aggressive attitude. It felt different. He had argued with her before, but back then, his anger had felt powerless and helpless. Even when he resisted, it lacked conviction. Now, his resistance made her feel uneasy.

Joseph responded, “You didn’t do anything wrong. Everything you do has a purpose. Everything is about profit. Without your brilliant decisions, you never would have built the wealth and status you have today.

“This is on me. I shouldn’t have been blind. I should have seen through you sooner. I should have left you long ago. When Natalie was born a month early, I should have conducted a DNA test back then.”

Unable to control his emotions, he started talking about the past.

“Are you ever going to let that go? Cora frowned. Joseph kept holding onto the same stuff, and she couldn’t do anything about it.

Joseph looked around. On both sides of the nearby street were cars belonging to Cora’s bodyguards. Straightening his back, he asked, “Cora, if all of this disappeared, would you still be this confident?”
