Joseph was a little caught off guard, but he was quick to react. He stepped back just enough to dodge the attack before blurting out, “You shouldn’t simply pull the needles out like that. The treatment isn’t done yet.”

Zachary was too worked up to listen to Joseph. He yanked every last needle out of his arms, head, and stomach, He then told Joseph to get lost and refused treatment from him.

“He doesn’t trust me, and he’s way too volatile. You should just get someone else to take over. To be honest, the fact that he can act like this means he’s fine. You can transfer him to another hospital,” Joseph said to Yasmin before turning on his heel and walking out.

After all, he had a temper as well. Besides, he had plenty of other patients in the hospital waiting for him to treat

them.

He got back to work. A few hours later, he returned to his office only to find Yasmin waiting for him. “Why are you still here? Shouldn’t you be arranging for his discharge and his return to Croma to recover?”

“Dr. Hart, I’m so sorry. There’s a reason Zachary flew off the handle like that. He found out you slept with Grace, so he’s furious. D-Did you actually do something like that?” Yasmin asked as she studied Joseph.

“It was an emergency at the time. We had no choice but to take that temporary measure. I’ve already come clean to Mavis about it, and she didn’t blame me. She actually still trusts me and understood the choice Grace and I made.

“So is it your husband’s turn to throw a fit about it now?”

Joseph knew that Grace must have deliberately revealed the matter to Zachary to get a rise out of him.

Judging from the outcome, she had definitely achieved her goal. She’d succeeded in getting Zachary to drink himself into a stupor and fueled his anger.

Yasmin was genuinely surprised. “Mavis knows?”

“Why don’t you call her and ask? Since you’ve brought it up, let me be a little cynical and guess why your husband is so upset.

“He’s had his eye on Grace for a long time, but with you and Mavis in the picture, as well as Grace’s own resistance, he never got anywhere. But then I beat him to the punch. So now, I’m just his convenient punching bag.

Yasmin sighed. “To be honest, when I found out, I gave him hell for it too. I was so ashamed of him. Getting angry over something like this and even attacking you is seriously embarrassing.

“I’ve already arranged for him to be transferred out. He’s heading back to Croma to rest. Let me treat you to dinner later as an apology. I hope you won’t refuse.”

“Oh? You’re not going back with him?”

“No, I’m staying here to hold down the fort. You know about the fire at New World, right? That has changed the situation.”

Yasmin left it at that, then said she would wait for Joseph in the parking lot so they could head out together once he got off work.

Joseph gave Grace a quick call. After learning that Yasmin had invited her as well, he simply told her to play it by ear and then hung up.

Joseph showed up to the dinner. At the table, he conversed with Grace in an open and relaxed manner. They were not overly affectionate, but the subtle looks and little gestures between them made it obvious they were way more than just friends.

Yasmin naturally noticed everything. Since the waitstaff in the private room were her people, it was easy for her to spike Joseph’s drinks with a little extra something.

By the time they wrapped up the meal, Joseph was so out of it that Grace had to help him to the car. They took him back to her place so she could look after him.

As Yasmin was leaving, she caught the sound of Joseph and Grace making out inside. Yasmin believed the drug had taken effect, spurring on their feelings for each other.

Once downstairs, she called Cora. “Ms. Lowell, I just saw your husband leave with my dear sister-in-law. They were all over each other. I’m guessing they’re having an affair. Did you know anything about this?”

“Send me the address.”

That was all Cora said, but her anger was unmistakable.
