A Man with Nerves of Steel (Joseph Hart) novel Chapter 263

Chapter 263

Cora demanded that Grace open the door. She then barged right in, only to be blocked at the entryway.

Grace exclaimed, “Cora Lowell, you can’t just storm in here! This is my home, and you have no right to do as you please here!”

“Get out of my way!”

After shoving Grace aside, Cora ordered one bodyguard to watch the front door, whereas she and the other searched the whole place. They checked the bedroom, the bathroom, the kitchen, and even the balcony. But there was no sign of Joseph anywhere.

She sent the bodyguards outside to wait, then fixed Grace with a hard stare. “Where is he?”

“Where is who?”

“Joseph! Don’t play dumb with me! I know he came in just now.”

“He didn’t. Don’t go around saying such things!”

“Yasmin told me that he did. Say he wasn’t here one more freaking time, and I swear I’ll feed you to the fishes.”

Grace stood her ground, staring Cora down. “I don’t think you will. So you and Yasmin are in cahoots now?”

“Where’s Joseph?”

Grace let out a sneer. “He left ages ago! He came all this way, only to lose his nerve at the door. What’s the point of having a useless man like that around? I kicked him to the curb a long time ago.”

Córa did the mental math. From the time Yasmin called her to the time she got here, some time had passed.

If Joseph and Grace had actually slept together, a few minutes would have been more than enough.

Grace had a sheet mask on, completely hiding any flush on her face. Even if the mask were removed, there would be no way to tell anything. Not that it mattered anyway. They’d probably done it countless times by now.

Frustrated, Cora thought, “Damn it, I was a moment too late. Failing to catch Joseph this time would only make him more cautious next time.”

Seeing Cora go quiet, Grace remarked, “Talk about double standards. You get to sleep around and have kids with other men, but you still want to control everything Joseph thinks and does? Do you really think that’s realistic?”

“That’s complete nonsense! And what happens between Joseph and me is none of your business, you homewrecker!”

“Oh, please. It’s easy to insult people when you claim the moral high ground.

“But think about it-Joseph has tried to divorce you more than once. If it weren’t for your dirty tricks, he’d be a free man by now. I’m not a homewrecker. I’m simply his new woman. As for you, you’re pretty much just his ex- wife.”

“I’m not interested in playing word games with you. Joseph is mine. No one is taking him away from me, not even you!”

Cora wasn’t going to waste her breath anymore and turned to leave.

“Joseph is a free man. You can’t keep him chained forever. If you don’t let him go, it’s only going to backfire!

There’s no telling what he’ll do when he reaches his breaking point.

“Don’t you realize you’re pushing him closer and closer to the edge?”

“You have absolutely no right to stick your nose into our business! This is my final warning-leave Jenton immediately, or I swear I’ll destroy you.”

“Then let me give you a warning in return. If you kill me, you’ll only be pushing Joseph over the edge, and he’ll avenge me! When that happens, every single one of you will die by his hand. Not a single one of you will get away!
