Chapter 274
Cora thought Jenna was completely insane. Who else would show up at someone’s home and say something like that? She immediately called Joseph, but he did not answer.
“Joseph, you never come home anymore. Just how many people have you offended?”
Cora was thoroughly annoyed. The fire at the Lowell Group had caught her completely off guard, and they still hadn’t identified the culprit. However, through a process of elimination, they had ruled out the Croma faction
Instead, she and her team gradually concluded that there was another force at play in Jenton. This entity was arrogant, ruthless, and incredibly dangerous-and they needed to find and destroy it quickly.
They couldn’t allow an organization that powerful to exist in Jenton.
Returning inside, she noticed Natalie eavesdropping nearby.
Cora asked, “What are you up to now? If you want to ask about your father, just ask me openly. He won’t be coming back tonight. He seems to have stirred up trouble outside, and that woman was saying she would go after him.”
Natalie asked, “Which father?”
Cora frowned. “Are you trying to cause trouble?”
Natalie and Selena had gone from suspecting that Joseph wasn’t their biological father to believing it completely. No matter how much Cora tried to explain things, nothing changed their minds. Instead, every explanation only made her look guiltier.
“Was that woman from the Zahn family?” Natalie asked cautiously.
“What do you mean?” Cora raised an eyebrow.
Natalie answered, “Joseph found out that my father is probably a Zahn, because that family is more powerful than ours. Marla said our family’s background doesn’t even compare to my biological father’s, so it has to be them. When can I change my name to Natalie Zahn, Mom?”
“The Zahn family?” Cora was confused. She’d heard of them before and knew they were powerful and mysterious. But they supposedly never involved themselves in Jenton’s affairs.
Besides, she never had any dealings with the Zahns.
Cora shouted, “You only have one father, and that is Joseph! Your name will always be Natalie Hart!”
Then, she ordered Natalie to head back to her room.
After that, Cora went to her study and took out the phone, having them investigate the Zahns.
After hanging up, Cora was still left with questions. How did Joseph even discover the Zahn family? What exactly had he been doing? How much did he know?
Cora said to herself, “Joseph, I find myself understanding you less and less by the day. But there’s one thing I do know. You’re walking down a path with no return.”
Then, she went back to her room, where she slept alone on the king-sized bed.
Meanwhile, Joseph went to see Lacey, and they slept together.

The truth was, he still had desires. But he couldn’t go home and seek out Cora, and Grace had already returned to Croma. He couldn’t go looking for Rosalie either, so he sought comfort elsewhere.
Coincidentally, Lacey had gone out drinking with some friends that evening. Someone had secretly slipped something into her drink, and she barely made it back to her apartment. Even standing in freezing-cold water didn’t help, so she called Joseph out of desperation.
