Joseph didn’t admit anything, nor did he show Bernard any respect, which left him furious. Bernard then left in a huff.

Right after that, Joseph received a call from Cora, who spoke first. “Joe, Dad went looking for you, didn’t he? Did he try to make things hard for you?”

“Did you think he came here to ask how I was doing and praise me? I know you think I’m the one who poisoned Maurice too. Are you nuts?” Joseph immediately shot back.

“I don’t think you did this either. We’re looking into it right now. I’m sure we’ll have answers very soon.”

“I’ve already called the police, and they’ll conduct their own investigation. They’ll uncover the truth too.

“Oh, since you called, I have a question for you. Jenna poisoned three of your housekeepers. What are you going to do about that?”

Joseph knew that as long as Cora took an interest in the Townes’ situation, she would inevitably run into Jenna. In fact, they had already met at the Traditional Medicine Center.

“Jenna said she didn’t poison Maurice. The three housekeepers probably got poisoned after buying contaminated drinks.

Suddenly, he received a phone call from the emergency department. An elderly patient was in critical condition. and had to be transferred to their department for emergency treatment, and Joseph gave his consent.

The patient was an ordinary retired maintenance worker at a college. He was already unconscious at that point, and his granddaughter was the one who sent him to the hospital.

After examining the patient, Joseph concluded that the man’s coma was caused by poisoning.

Something suddenly struck him. The patient’s condition was pretty much similar to the medical data on Maurice that he had gotten from Belinda.

Joseph did not file a report on the poisoning case, nor did he discuss it with his department. He simply treated it as a routine emergency case.

Once the toxin was neutralized and the old man’s vital signs stabilized, Joseph had the patient transferred to a normal ward in the inpatient department.

That night, he called Belinda, who told him that Maurice still showed no signs of improvement and was still in a coma. Jenna and her associates were still trying to come up with a solution, but they still hadn’t developed an effective treatment plan.

While Joseph was in his laboratory, he suddenly heard a commotion outside the door. The surveillance cameras at the main gate had been obstructed, but the building’s cameras were still functioning.

Cora was entering the building with five bodyguards in tow. What a show of force!

Still, Joseph didn’t panic. He sprayed some perfume in the corridor and the office before waiting for Cora to arrivé.

Her bodyguards opened the door and came into his office first. They positioned themselves on either side of him to stop him from escaping. They were even prepared to restrain him if necessary too.

Cora walked in and saw his computer was on, playing surgical videos. Joseph was clearly studying medical techniques.

Cora said, “Joe, you have to come home with me.”

Joseph asked, “And if I don’t?”
