As Cora saw it, Joseph’s success came from both what could and could not be seen. For example, there was his perseverance, determination, kind heart, and much more.

Joseph didn’t go home, and Cora didn’t have him followed again, but he was still excellent at shaking off anyone trying to follow him.

After being occupied with the Jenton Grand Hotel poisoning case for so many days, Joseph was somewhat exhausted and decided to take three days off.

Joseph spent his three days off at Rosalie’s place, leaving her a little flattered yet overwhelmed. Since he didn’t sleep with her, she also felt a little disappointed.

After getting enough rest, he returned to work.

That day, as soon as he came out of the emergency room, he found Cora, Bernard, and the other Lowells waiting for him in his office, all looking at him anxiously.

Joseph was about to tell her not to bother asking him to save Maurice-until he saw the name on the medical file she was holding-Jeremy Lowell.

Joseph knew that Jeremy was Bernard’s cousin and that Jeremy had also looked down on him.

Joseph went through the medical file and found out that Jeremy had been poisoned. His symptoms were very similar to Kenneth’s, so Kenneth had probably poisoned him.

Eyen though Kenneth wasn’t much of a doctor, his skill with poison was second to none.

When Joseph realized that the medical file was from the Traditional Medicine Center, he said, “I’m really busy now, so I can’t get away from the hospital.

“Besides, Jenna’s at the Traditional Medicine Center, and she’s dying to kill me. I’m not going there.”

“We can have Uncle Jeremy transferred to this hospital. But honey, you must save him,” Cora said.

“If you don’t trust me, then don’t transfer him here. If you have faith in me, don’t say stuff like that.”

Seeing that his thermal flask hadn’t been touched, he felt relieved and drank from it.

“Cora, you could’ve come here alone. Bringing all these people won’t make any difference.” Joseph swept his gaze over Bernard and the others before gesturing for them to leave.

“Honey, I’m so grateful to you.”

“Grateful? What’for? I’ve done nothing.”

“You agreed to treat Uncle Jeremy, didn’t you? As long as you step in, you’ll definitely be able to cure him.”

“I’m not some miracle doctor. I can only do my best. If the condition is just what’s written in the chart, I can save him.

“By then, if you really want to show your gratitude, just agree to a divorce.”

“You… Why are you bringing that up again? I told you. I’d never agree to a divorce. Honey, I love you.”

Hearing that, Joseph paused for a moment before shaking his head with a wry smile.

“I didn’t poison anyone. Don’t slander me like that.” Jenna denied it.

“You may be useless, but you should at least have the guts to own up to what you’ve done. Well, you’ve really outdone yourself this time.

“If I were you, I’d just kill myself! How can you even still live with yourself?”

With that, Joseph ended the call.
