Chapter 303
After treating Jeremy, Joseph stepped out of the emergency room but saw no sign of Cora. He briefly updated the Lowells on the results of the emergency treatment and said they only needed to wait for Jeremy to wake up.
Joseph asked to speak to Bernard in private. Once they were in his office, he asked, “Where’s Cora?
“I already saved Jeremy’s life. The least she could do to show her appreciation is to agree to the divorce, don’t you think?”
“Cora already found out who was the mastermind behind the arson attack on her company and went off to handle the issue. As for her marriage, that’s her private business. You know I’m all for your divorce,” Bernard answered.
In the end, Cora managed to trace it back to Belinda. Still, Joseph wasn’t surprised as he had anticipated this
outcome.
Belinda had used the Townes’ connections and resources to burn Lowell Group’s headquarters. Now that Maurice had been poisoned, and the Townes’ company stock had plummeted, the family was probably running short on funds.
Naturally, the Townes would strengthen their ties with the Lowells. In that case, that also meant that Belinda was just a sacrificial pawn.
Bernard didn’t know why Joseph had suddenly fallen silent and thought he was still thinking about the divorce.
Bernard lowered his voice and said cautiously, “Actually, I’ve been thinking about this for some time.
“All these years, our family may not have done much to advance your career or help you become the hospital director, but we’ve never treated you unfairly.
“I was thinking that since Cora still has feelings for you, maybe you two could just forget about the divorce and give it another chance? Just tell us what you want from now on, and we’ll do whatever it takes to make it happen.”
“Cora cheated on me and betrayed me for years, and you want me to just accept that? Have you lost your mind?”
Joseph was displeased. Since he was at the hospital, he forced himself to stay calm before immediately firing back.
“Did the Zahns pressure you guys and ask you to raise the children well? And they want you to make sure I take responsibility for them?”
“I’m just expressing my personal opinion. It’s got nothing to do with the Zahns. Besides, what do our family matters have to do with them?” Bernard denied it.
“Do you really think Cora is capable of making your family’s wealth skyrocket in just a few years? Isn’t that because the Zahns have been supporting you behind the scenes?
“She’s been so secretive with you just to cover up her dirty deals with them, hasn’t she?”
“You’d better have proof for what you just said. Otherwise, that’s slander!”
“What more proof do you want? Even if I gave it to you, you still wouldn’t admit the truth, right? You even refused to accept the results of a paternity test. What else am I supposed to make you believe then?”
“Joseph, let’s not talk about the children for now. Let’s talk about your relationship with Cora. You still have feelings for her, don’t you? Then…”
“Then what is there left to say? If Cora’s not coming over, fine. But I won’t change my mind about divorcing her.

“Tell Cora this. The sooner we file for divorce, the sooner we can move on. We can put an end to all of this!”
Joseph ignored Bernard and returned to his office. He called Belinda, but she didn’t answer. He even called Paula, who answered, “I’m on my way to a family meeting. Let’s talk later.”
Then Paula ended the call.
