A Man with Nerves of Steel (Joseph Hart) novel Chapter 304

Chapter 304

“If Belinda plans to betray me, then I’ll have to face Cora head-on sooner than expected. If she wants to kill me, so be it.

“We all eventually die, don’t we? No one lives forever. Once you’re dead, that’s it. I’m not afraid!”

That was what Joseph thought as he mentally prepared himself for what might happen. He wasn’t certain whether Belinda would betray him.

Over the next day, Cora and her family didn’t confront him about the arson incident.

A day later, Jeremy was deemed fit for discharge, yet the Lowells gave Joseph no response at all, not even Cora.

After learning that Jeremy had been cured of the poison, she never showed up at the hospital again. As for Joseph’s request for a divorce, she didn’t take it seriously at all.

Just then, Joseph received a call from Paula, telling him that Belinda had been beaten so badly that she was critically injured. She was clinging to life as she was being rushed to the hospital.

Startled, Joseph quickly arranged for an emergency room. When he saw Belinda, he realized her condition was only slightly better than Yvonne’s.

Belinda was unconscious. Not only did she suffer from external injuries, but she also had internal injuries with bleeding in her organs.

“Was she tortured? Were the Townes behind this? Or the Zahns?”

Joseph suspected that someone from one of the two families was behind it. Looking at her condition, especially her critically low vital signs, he suddenly had an idea.

If he didn’t save Belinda and let her die, no one would ever find out about their deal.

After struggling with the thought for about five seconds, Joseph made up his mind to still save her.

By working closely with his colleagues, Joseph was able to pull Belinda back from the brink of death. Since she wouldn’t be waking up anytime soon, he returned to his office.

Just then, his phone rang-it was Wallace.

“Joseph, hand over that Towne woman to me. If you save her, you’re making an enemy of me!”

“Did you hit her?”

“Transfer her to the Traditional Medicine Center now!”

The call ended.

Even though Joseph was puzzled, he immediately gave orders that Belinda was not to receive any visitors, and no other hospital staff could intervene in her treatment. He even restricted access to her medical records, so only he and Mason could view them.

Joseph called Paula and got straight to the point, asking why Belinda had been beaten. After learning that Belinda was no longer in danger, Paula was relieved and expressed her gratitude to him.

She then told him who the attackers were, saying two people were involved. Aside from Wallace, the other attacker was Jonas Towne.

Jonas was enforcing the family rules after finding out that Belinda had used the family’s resources to burn down the Lowell Group’s headquarters.

But what about Wallace? Why did he beat Belinda up?

Paula couldn’t give a conclusive reason, so Joseph had no choice but to wait for Belinda to wake up and tell him the answer.

“Looks like the Zahn family is full of psychos!”

As Joseph smoked, he figured Belinda probably hadn’t betrayed him, given how badly injured she was.

“Turns out she’s really loyal, huh?”
