“You’re a little late with that. Someone just took Belinda away,” Joseph replied. From Cora’s words, he could tell that someone was about to come and take Belinda away by force.
“Someone just took her away? Who?”
“I don’t know! Oh! Have you given any thought to our divorce?”
“We’re not divorcing! Tell me who took Belinda away? Didn’t I already tell you? She was the one who burned my company down.
“I need to get the truth out of her. How could you let someone take her away?”
“If you won’t agree to a divorce, what else is there to talk about?” Joseph ended the call.
Right after that, he received a call from Mason, asking him to head over to the main building. As soon as they met, Mason didn’t waste any time. “Why did you discharge Belinda Towne?”
“I’ve been getting pressure from all sides, and I thought it was becoming quite a hassle, so I was fine with whoever came to pick her up. That way, I can finally have some peace and quiet.” Joseph had his answer ready.
“So who came to pick her up?”
“I’m not certain. That person was really rude. He didn’t even sign the papers and just asked to take her away.”
Joseph played dumb. Since there was an emergency at his department, he returned to provide assistance.
When he returned to his department, he found Paula already waiting for him inside. She was there for Belinda as well.
“Where’s Belinda?” Paula asked right away. “Is she safe where she is? Should I go there and look after her?”
“By the time Belinda left, her life was no longer in danger. If it weren’t for the fact that her wounds haven’t fully healed, she’d be able to walk on her own. In any case, don’t worry about her!”
Joseph didn’t reveal Belinda’s whereabouts because every person who knew was another risk. She was still really weak and needed plenty of rest.
At the same time, he was keeping Belinda under his control so that she would disclose information about the Zahn and Towne families.
Barry had humiliated Belinda like that, and Joseph helped her kill him. Now that he had saved her life, she had no reason to keep anything from him.
Paula studied Joseph’s expression. She saw no trace of emotion on his face, and he seemed really confident too. That meant Belinda was really hidden somewhere no one could find her.
Belinda was badly injured, which already put her in great danger. But Joseph was an excellent doctor, so leaving her in his care was probably the safest option.
Paula then took out her appointment slip and had Joseph examine her. He gave her some medicine, and she left
soon after.
Not long after Paula left, Joseph received a call from an unfamiliar number. A middle-aged man’s furious voice came through the phone.
“Where did you send Belinda to? I want you to hand her over right now!”

“Who the hell are you?” Joseph was extremely displeased and memorized the number.
