Chapter 337
Joseph began by using acupuncture to create a controlled drainage pathway, slowly releasing the accumulated blood and relieving the pressure inside the elderly woman’s skull.
Once the intracranial pressure dropped, he stimulated key neural pathways, encouraging the brain’s natural healing response.
About an hour later, the old woman’s brainwave activity returned to normal. She slowly opened her eyes, but she couldn’t speak because she was still intubated.
Joseph left the rest of her care to the private hospital’s medical staff. The skill he showed was already enough to astonish everyone present. There was no need to overshadow the doctors who worked there.
Joseph looked at the woman. “I’ve saved your grandmother. Send me back to the mountain now, and stop making life difficult for the monastery.”
She immediately replied, “My grandmother isn’t fully awake yet. At the very least, stay until she wakes up properly so she can thank you in person.”
Joseph shook his head. “You have excellent doctors in your private hospital. I’m an outsider. The longer I stay, the more it’ll look like I’m interfering with your hospital’s work. People will only grow to resent me. Besides, this is a moment for you and your family. I shouldn’t stay.”
She smiled confidently. “Don’t worry. As long as I’m here, no one will dare say a word against you. You’re my guest. Offending you means they’re offending me.”
Joseph sighed. “Do I really have to spell it out for you? I’m sick of this place, and I don’t want to stay here for another second. Do you understand now?”
“You…” The woman frowned. “Fine, I’ll just have someone take you back. Did you really have to put it like that?”
Only then did she remember what she’d heard about Joseph. It seemed like his temper wasn’t just bad in Jenton. It
was the same here.
She arranged for someone to drive him back to the monastery.
The abbot was surprised to see Joseph return so soon. When he learned of Joseph’s success, he praised, “Your medical skills are truly extraordinary. If someone with gifts like yours were to renounce the world completely, it would be a tremendous loss. I’m afraid I can’t ordain you just yet.”
Joseph smiled. “Then I’ll just keep waiting.”
Joseph still had some unfinished business, after all. He wasn’t quite ready to devote himself to religion just yet.
With the persistent interruptions from the woman seeking a child, he knew true peace was no longer possible here. After spending one more night at the monastery, he quietly departed before dawn.
This time, he headed straight back to Jenton.
Until he settled his private matters, there would never be a place where he truly belonged.
He might no longer work at Jenton University Hospital, but he still had his own company.
That very evening after returning, Cora came to see him.
Not wanting to provoke Joseph, she came in alone, leaving her employees outside. The moment she saw his shaved head, she got a bad feeling. She hurriedly said, “Honey, did you join the monastery? You can’t do that. You

can’t leave the girls and me!”
Joseph scoffed. “I just got back, and you’re already bringing up that nauseating nonsense?”
Cora was still breathtakingly beautiful, but her refusal to admit her infidelity filled him with nothing but frustration.
