A Man with Nerves of Steel (Joseph Hart) novel Chapter 356

Chapter 356

Later that day, Joseph finally received Jonas’ medical report. The two most serious injuries stood out immediately. The first was internal bleeding around the kidneys; it was serious, but not life-threatening, meaning surgery wouldn’t be necessary.

The second, however, was an injury to the prostate. That one would require an operation.

For a split second, Joseph considered sneaking into the Traditional Medicine Center to finish the job himself. He mapped out exactly how he could leave Jonas paralyzed from the waist down, turning the man’s life into a living/ hell.

But the facility was crawling with informants from the Zahn medical sect. The moment he stepped inside, he would be exposed. There was no point in walking blindly into an obvious trap.

He murmured to himself, “Even if I don’t move against him personally, I’m not going to make his recovery easy By the time he’s finally discharged, Belinda will have finished dismantling his power piece by piece.”

His thoughts drifted to Cora, and he couldn’t help but wonder what she was plotting. “Cora, you’re barely keeping your own head above water right now. Do you really have the luxury of worrying about anyone else?”

Later, Joseph stopped by his clinic. Most of the renovations were finished, and in just a few days, it would finally be ready for its grand opening.

At noon, he had lunch there with Katie and the others.

Remembering a piece of gossip, Katie said, “Joseph, did you hear? Someone challenged Jenna.”

“Is it a contest of medicine or poison?” Joseph asked, looking up in surprise. No wonder Jenna hadn’t shown up to sabotage his clinic; she was tied up in a battle of her own.

“Probably a mix of both. But honestly, it’s all because of you, Joseph. Jenna’s always been known as Jenton’s Miracle Doctor. She was widely considered the best doctor around. But after you took her down, people realized she wasn’t unbeatable after all.”

Joseph chose not to comment.

Katie continued, “The truth is, it isn’t just the Gould family that has suffered under the Zahns. Plenty of other prominent families have too. To steal the medical techniques from others, they’ve used every underhanded trick imaginable.”

Joseph grunted in acknowledgment. “If there’s going to be a show, we might as well enjoy it. And if the timing is right, we’ll give things a little push. With any luck, we can drive the Zahn medical sect out of Jenton entirely.”

Katie nodded enthusiastically. “Exactly. This is our best shot to drive them out and restore the Gould family’s reputation.”

Joseph said, “I’ll do whatever I can to help. Families like yours, who have spent generations devoted to medicine, are exactly what Jenton needs.”

Katie beamed at the praise. “Thank you for thinking so highly of us, Joseph. We won’t forget our duty to heal and save lives.”

Just then, Joseph’s phone rang with a call from Shirley. He frowned, wondering why she would be calling him out of the blue.

The moment he picked up, her panicked voice came through the line. “Dr. Hart, could you please come to the

Traditional Medicine Center and take a look at Jonas?”

“You have the wrong number,” Joseph said coldly, hanging up immediately. He then instructed Katie to leave.

Shortly after that, Joseph headed to a luxury hotel. After confirming the room number, he walked straight over and pushed open the door to a large private dining room.

Sure enough, Jenna, Victor, and several other members of the Zahn medical sect were seated around a massive spread.

“Wrong room. Sorry to interrupt,” Joseph said, offering a polite, empty smile before turning on his heel.
