Chapter 396
Cora arrived outside Joseph’s office, only to be stopped at the door by Peyton.
“Cora, I wouldn’t go rushing in there if I were you. Joseph and Yara are in the middle of something. If you go in now, you’ll just be killing the vibe.”
“Yara? Joe caught Yara?”
Cora was shocked. “Peyton, we’re partners, remember? Don’t try to pull a fast one on me. Now tell me what the heck is going on.”
“Joseph gave us Yara’s phone number, so we traced the signal to where she was. Even though she wasn’t there when we rolled up, we were still able to track her down from that location since she had been there recently.
“Joseph wanted her, so naturally, I brought her here. They’ve been in there for a solid hour now.”
“What are they doing in there?”
“No idea. But I did hear Yara begging for mercy. She must be having quite a time.”
Upon hearing that, Cora immediately rushed inside. Of course, she wasn’t greeted by the sight of Joseph and Yara naked together. Joseph wasn’t that kind of man, after all.
What she did see was Yara getting her blood drained. Although the room smelled of cigarette smoke, there was also the unmistakable stench of blood. An inexplicable chill ran down her spine.
Joseph, on the other hand, was just sitting off to the side, smoking. His clothes were neat and clean.
“Honey, what’s going on?” she asked.
“This is Yara. She’s the one who wanted the children’s blood. She’s the mastermind. I figured I’d let her see what it feels like to have her own blood taken,” Joseph said calmly.
“You’re Yara?”
Cora eyed her up. She had a pretty face, but definitely not as pretty as Cora herself.
The longer Cora looked, the more familiar Yara seemed. She had a feeling she had seen Yara somewhere before.
After Yara had insulted Joseph nonstop earlier, her mouth was now bone-dry, and her throat felt like it was on fire. Still, Joseph refused to give her any water, all while draining her blood.
The pain was unbearable. What made it worse was Joseph’s cold, emotionless expression, which only fueled the unease growing inside her.
“I’m not afraid to tell you who I am. If you want to kill me or torture me, go right ahead. Cora, let me go while you still can, or your family will pay dearly,” Yara said, still putting on a brave front.
Joseph narrowed his eyes and silently waited to see how things would unfold. Cora’s gaze turned icy, but she didn’t rush to speak.
Yara continued, “Cora, if you don’t release me, I’ll have someone take back the project you secured last March by sleeping with a certain someone.”
“Keep slandering me, and I’ll tear your mouth off!” Cora snarled.
Yara let out a scoff. “I have proof. First, you two went out to dinner. Then you went to a karaoke bar, a spa, and

finally, you spent the night together at that villa.”

She turned her head toward Joseph. “Hey, you pathetic cuck, think back to last March. Didn’t Cora tell you she was taking time off for an out-of-town business trip? Well, she never left the city. She was actually at Pinecrest Resort in the western district of Jenton.”
