Chapter 401
Sure, Joseph wasn’t a monk who had to stay celibate yet, but that didn’t mean he was some kind of pervert who had weird fetishes.
“I’ve finally won over those stubborn old fogies in the Towne family. They’re letting me take over Towne Group. Jonas has already signed the transfer papers. He’s out!” Belinda exclaimed excitedly.
“Oh? What made Jonas cave?”
“I mean, think of the state he’s in. What choice did he have? Besides, if he refused, he wouldn’t dare set foot outside that hospital ever again.
“He knows that the second he leaves, I’ll pay him back and let him get a taste of what I went through.”
“What about what I asked for?” Joseph asked.
“Joseph, I know you want proof of Cora’s affair with Jonas. But after doing some digging, I really don’t think Jonas ever had a shot with her. Cora actually has some standards.”
“Standards?” Joseph grumbled, annoyed that Belinda was speaking on Cora’s behalf.
“Oh, what I mean is, she definitely had an affair, but I don’t think it was with Jonas. And even if they did have something going on, there’s no way you’d find videos or photos.
“People at their level don’t leave evidence lying around. They know how to keep their affairs under wraps and don’t take reckless risks.”
“I see,” Joseph muttered, frustrated.
Without photos or videos, Cora would never admit to cheating.
He changed the subject to something lighter so they could get through the rest of the meal in peace.
After the meal, he had Belinda take him to a private assisted living facility.
Belinda had been here before. With her looks, she could waltz right in with no problem. Joseph wasn’t here to treat anyone, though. Edmund was staying here.
He mused, “Yara, you’re trying to use me to get rid of Edmund, aren’t you? I wouldn’t want to disappoint you by not playing along.”
Joseph soon spotted an 80-year-old man. His well-defined features gave him a distinguished look. He must’ve been quite the handsome young man back then.
But now, he had age spots all over his scalp and face. His legs were weak, his back was hunched, and he looked like he was on his last legs.
Joseph walked right up to him and purposely bumped into him. When he reached out to steady Edmund, he gripped his wrist to check his pulse. What he found was shocking.
His pulse was way too strong for a guy who looked this frail. The old fossil was faking it!
The Zahn family had stolen the Gould family’s longevity research. With their special pills and blood transfusions at their disposal, there was no way they’d just let themselves grow old and waste away.
Belinda rushed over to apologize. “Mr. Zahn, I’m so sorry! This is my friend. He didn’t mean it.”

She let out a sigh of relief when she realized Edmund hadn’t fallen over from the bump.

“It’s fine, really! Just watch where you’re going, young man. You’d be bankrupt if I hit the ground!” Edmund said.
At the moment, Joseph was wearing dark sunglasses and a fake mustache, making him hard to recognize.
“Thanks for being so forgiving.”
Joseph deliberately spoke in a voice different from his usual one. Having gotten a good enough reading of Edmund’s pulse, he let go of his wrist.
He didn’t stick around and signaled for Belinda to leave. Back in the car, Belinda asked, “You just went in and came right back out without doing anything. What was the point of that?”
