Chapter 402
When Joseph returned to the clinic, Yelena just happened to bring in an elderly member of the Cooper family, so he got right to treating them.
Cora swung by the clinic, but Joseph was genuinely too busy to see her. When she learned he had lunch with Belinda, she went straight to Belinda instead.
By the time Cora got to Belinda’s place, Belinda had already changed into her pajamas and was about to take an afternoon nap. Belinda’s slim, curvy figure made even Cora feel a twinge of envy for her youth.
She cut right to the chase. “We’re supposed to be partners. I helped you secure the Towne family, and this is how you repay me? By seducing my husband?”
“What are you talking about, Cora? I never tried to seduce Joseph. There’s nothing going on between us. We just had lunch together. And he paid, by the way. It was strictly a meal. We didn’t sleep together or anything. You’re not seriously getting jealous over a meal, are you?”
Belinda smiled, looking totally unbothered.
Cora pressed, “You didn’t sleep together after lunch? There was a whole hour between leaving the restaurant and him getting back to the clinic. That was plenty of time to do whatever you wanted.”
“Good grief! If I were Joseph, I’d hate being monitored like that too! The poor man has no freedom at all!”
Belinda chuckled before continuing, “We went to see an old man named Edmund Zahn. Yara told Joseph you were sleeping with Edmund, so he went to check him out.”
“Joseph’s really not letting this go. He won’t rest until he digs up my secrets,” Cora thought, a wave of panic hitting her.
With a frown, she let out a scoff. “He actually believes Yara. Some genius, he is!”
“Joseph is just one piece of evidence away from proving you cheated. Now that he has a suspect, why wouldn’t he look into it?”
“He’s an idiot!”
“Don’t say that. He might’ve actually noticed something from his encounter with Edmund.”
“Oh? Like what?”
“Cora, be honest with me. Is there something going on between you and Mr. Zahn?”
“Would you want to fool around with that old man? Have you lost your mind too?”
“Back when I was with Barry, he told me Edmund was a dirty old goat who was still having illegitimate kids well into his 60s or 70s.
“I couldn’t understand it at the time. Why would someone that old want more children when he probably wouldn’t even live to see them grow up?
“What was the point? But once Joseph told me about blood transfusions, it all clicked. Turns out he was having more kids for a very different kind of retirement plan.”
“People who do something that heartless will pay for it eventually. Anyway, enough about that. You mentioned Joseph noticing something. Tell me exactly what happened. Don’t leave out a single detail.”

Cora couldn’t care less about Edmund. What she cared about was what Joseph had done.
Belinda recounted how Joseph had briefly touched Edmund. Seeing that Cora still wasn’t satisfied, she added, ” Joseph never goes out of his way to do something for nothing. He dragged me in there, then left right away.
“There’s no way he’d leave just like that unless he’d already found out what he wanted to know!”
“And what would that be?”
