Chapter 404
On the drive over, Joseph closed his eyes and pretended to sleep, completely ignoring Cora’s attempts to make conversation.
Cora could tell Joseph was being disrespectful to her. She huffed in displeasure, but Joseph paid her no mind. In the past, he would’ve bent over backward to coax her, waiting on her hand and foot so she never even had a reason to get mad.
But now? He couldn’t care less about her feelings. He probably didn’t care about her anymore, either.
Cora felt dejected, frustrated, and utterly confused. She still had no idea where things had taken a wrong turn.
Outside, the streets were bustling and loud, but inside the car, it was dead silent.
They reached the Traditional Medicine Center a few minutes later. Joseph went to check on Natalie and the other two first. Since their blood was no longer being drawn, he could clearly tell their vitality was returning.
“Dad, can you come visit me every day?” Selena asked.
“I’ll try. I’ll come whenever I have time. But don’t worry too much. Your grandpa and the others will take good care of you.”
Upon seeing the tears welling up in Selena’s eyes, Joseph felt his heart ache. In the past, even a single sneeze from the children would get him feeling anxious, let alone being in the hospital.
He was actually heartbroken at the moment, but he knew he couldn’t show it. He couldn’t afford to be soft!
After calming Selena down, he headed to Jenna’s office. Without bothering to knock, he opened the door and walked right in.
“What the hell are you doing? Get lost!” Victor snapped.
He was in the middle of discussing a treatment plan with Jenna and the others, and things were clearly getting
heated.
Joseph was caught off guard for a moment, but he was quick on the uptake. As he’d entered, he’d overheard them discussing a patient’s condition that reminded him of a similar case he had encountered before.
“So you’re discussing Wallace’s treatment plan, and you’re completely stumped, right? Well, I know how to deal with the internal bleeding. Want me to tell you how?”
Jenna said, “Then tell us.”
“Sorry, but since you told me to get lost, my solution just got lost too! Can’t find it now!”
With a smile, Joseph turned around and walked out, slamming the door shut behind him.
Jenna hurried after him and blocked his way. “If you have a solution, then tell me. What do you want in return?”
“It’s just one solution. What are you willing to give me for it? You’re actually making me name my price? I’m not falling for your empty promises again,” Joseph said calmly.
“I’ll keep my word this time, and if I don’t, I’ll let you do whatever you want with me. I admit my medical skills are inferior to yours. And I apologize for what happened before.
“Joseph, I’m sorry. Please forgive me.”

Jenna actually swallowed her pride and apologized to Joseph.
“Is that old patriarch of the Zahn family pressuring you? Well, it makes sense. If I’d poured that much money into taking care of you people, only to find out you can’t do anything in return, I’d be let down too. I’d call you all good- for-nothing freeloaders as well.”
Joseph had Jenna pull up Wallace’s scans on a tablet. He studied them for a bit, then pointed out a hidden spot where the bleeding was coming from.
Jenna was quick to understand what he was getting at. She immediately went to the ward to examine Wallace. Sure enough, she found the source of the bleeding.
