While Joseph was on the road, he shook off anyone tailing him and went straight to Kingsley Estate. He didn’t want to be bothered, and Rosalie’s home was the perfect place to get some rest.

He chatted with Rosalie and Brooke for a bit before turning in early.

Brooke gestured for Rosalie to follow Joseph in, but Rosalie shook her head.

Brooke remarked, “With you dragging your feet like this, by the time you made up your mind, the ship would have already sailed.”

“Right. You know this because you’re the one piloting the ship, right? Honestly, give me a break!” Rosalie fired back sarcastically.

Truth be told, she did want to go in and get frisky with Joseph, but he wasn’t interested. It took two to tango, after all.

Meanwhile, at the Traditional Medicine Center, Cora had relatives from the Lowell family stay behind to look after the children after she stayed with them for a while. She tried calling Joseph, but his phone had already been switched off.

According to the updates from her subordinates, he wasn’t at the company or the clinic.

Joseph clearly had other places to crash, places Cora and her people didn’t know about.

Cora was feeling miserable. Before she knew it, she’d wandered to Jonas’ hospital room. Just as she was about to knock, a jolt of unease shot through her, making her heart lurch.

She realized that whenever she was in a bad mood, whether over company business or personal problems, her first instinct hadn’t been to talk to Joseph. Instead, she’d gone to people like Frank or Jonas.

“Why didn’t I ever open up to Joseph? Why didn’t I?”

She was just about to leave when Jonas’ voice suddenly boomed from inside, yelling at someone to get out, followed by Shirley screaming right back.

It was obvious the two of them were arguing. Cora opened the door and stepped in.

“You two are arguing so loudly that everyone outside can hear you. Aren’t you worried about what people will think?”

The tension in the room was thick enough to cut with a knife. Jonas, in particular, was glaring daggers at Shirley, looking like he wanted to set her on fire.

“At this point, everyone already knows. Why should I care about looking bad?”

When Shirley saw Cora, she figured Joseph was probably alone right now, so she grabbed her purse and left.

Cora turned to Jonas. “What’s gotten into you? Didn’t the doctor tell you not to get worked up? Flying off the handle like this isn’t going to help you get better.”

“It’s all because of Joseph.”

“Joe didn’t come see you today, so how did he provoke you? Does he have telekinetic powers or something?” Cora asked, genuinely confused.

“He didn’t meet with me, no, but he met with Shirley. That bastard seduced her! And Shirley actually bought into his nonsense and wants to cheat on me!

“Get someone to beat Shirley up. Put her in the hospital so she can’t go see Joseph!”

“He did? Do you have proof?”

Cora was shocked. If Joseph added Shirley to his roster of women, there was zero chance he’d ever come home to her. He’d just want a divorce even more. She was losing her grip on him!

“Shirley told me herself! She said she wanted me to agree to let her be with Joseph. She has zero shame now! When I refused, she had the nerve to pick a fight with me!”

“Sounds to me like it’s just Shirley crushing on him. And there isn’t actually anything going on between her and Joseph,” Cora said.
