Chapter 407
“That wasn’t entirely my idea. There were people from the Croma faction who also wanted to destroy Grace. They came to me, and I just went along with their plan.
“But I never expected Joseph to save her. If Grace had been ruined back then, we wouldn’t be in this mess today. Damn it! It’s all that bastard Joseph’s fault!” Jonas said through gritted teeth.
“You can’t blame Joe for this! He’s a doctor. He was just doing his job. As for what happened between him and Shirley, I’ll look into it. Don’t overthink things,” Cora comforted Jonas, but seeing that he was still worked up, she didn’t say anything more and left.
She wanted to find Shirley, but Shirley had already left the hospital, so Cora had no choice but to let it go.
She had just gotten back when she received a report from her subordinate. Shirley had shown up at Joseph’s company and had gone straight into his office.
Were they really involved with each other?
Shocked, Cora rushed over to Joseph’s company, but he wasn’t there. The only person she saw was Shirley, sitting on the couch inside and playing on her phone.
“Why are you here? Where’s my husband?” Cora questioned as she scanned the room.
Joseph was nowhere to be seen, and his work computer wasn’t even turned on.
“How would I know where he is?”
With that, Shirley stood up to leave. Since Joseph wasn’t here, and Cora had come too, there was no longer any chance of anything happening between her and Joseph.
Cora stopped her in her tracks. “Since he’s not here, let’s have a little chat. You came here looking for him to satisfy your physical needs, right? You can’t do that, understand?”
So Cora wanted to lay her cards on the table? Fine then. Shirley thought that she should get it all out in the open as well.
Shirley sat back down, crossed her legs, and asked, “Cora, when are you going to divorce Joseph?”
“I am not divorcing him.”
“How can you not? You went and had three kids with other men. You’ve been cheating on Joseph from the very beginning, and yet you still have the nerve to stay married to him?”
“How many times do I have to say it before you people believe that I never betrayed Joseph?”
“And what about you? How many times do we have to say it before you get it through your head that your daughters aren’t his?
“You won’t admit it because the second you do, it means you cheated! You’re lying through your teeth! You can play dumb all you want, but Joseph isn’t dumb. He sees right through you!”
“I’m not going to argue about that anymore. I just want you to realize that you’re Jonas’ woman. You shouldn’t do anything to hurt him, especially not with my husband. What you’re doing is wrong!”
“You know what Jonas is like, don’t you? Even before all of this happened to him, he wasn’t that great in that area. He can’t compare to Joseph in any way.

“Back when he was still the one calling the shots for the Towne family, I still had something to look forward to by staying with him. But now he’s nothing.
“He’s lost his position as the family’s decision-maker, and worse, he can’t even perform as a man anymore. He can’t do anything. I am not going to live like a nun.”
Shirley wasn’t afraid to be brutally honest with Cora.
