Joseph mused, “Three inches. That length isn’t enough… But that still shouldn’t be the case. There couldn’t be any other reason, though. This has to be it!”

At that moment, Yelena chimed in, “Dwight is in great shape. He ran a half-marathon last month and placed in the top ten. There’s no way he can only climb three flights of stairs. Honestly, I think he could carry a sack of cement up three flights of stairs if he wanted to.”

“You can explain it to her later. I’m going to write you a prescription to regulate your body first. After that, I suggest you try alternative methods. It should work,” Joseph said as he wrote the prescription.

Yelena was still confused when she went to pick up the prescription. She wanted to invite Joseph to dinner, but since he still had to go to the sanatorium to treat other patients, she left with Mandy.

In the car, Yelena asked, “What did the three flights of stairs mean back there? It felt like you guys were talking in

riddles.”

Mandy chuckled, saying, “You were thinking about height. Dr. Hart and I were talking about length.”

Yelena was still a little lost. Mandy had no choice but to explain it more directly, which finally made Yelena burst out laughing.

The thought of Joseph being a seasoned pro in such things made Yelena giggle. But a second later, a thought hit her, and she gasped. Joseph was in incredible physical shape. Was he able to climb seven flights of stairs?

Afterward, Joseph met up with Dolly. During dinner with the patient’s family, he reviewed the medical records.

The patient was a 50-year-old ex-military man. Last year, during a mission, he took a piece of shrapnel to the

head.

It was lodged in an extremely critical and tricky spot. None of the top neurosurgeons and brain experts in the country had the confidence to perform surgery to remove the shrapnel. The slightest mistake could result in the patient dying on the operating table.

Originally, if they just left the shrapnel alone, the patient would have been fine. He could live a normal life with it remaining in the body.

But recent scans showed the shrapnel had started to rust, causing an infection. The patient also started suffering from occasional headaches, and the situation was turning critical.

The family had sought Joseph out because of his track record with high-difficulty surgeries, plus a recommendation from an elder in the Croma faction.

Joseph looked over the scans twice and felt confident he could do the surgery, initially estimating an 80% success

rate.

After the meal, he went to see the patient. The man’s good health, optimistic outlook, and strong will made Joseph believe the surgery had an even better chance of succeeding.

After discussing it with Dolly and the others, Joseph decided to perform the surgery at Jenton University Hospital. Their equipment was better, which would make the patient’s post-op recovery smoother.

The patient’s family handled the arrangements, and preparations began immediately. The surgery was scheduled to start at 2:00 am.

Joseph switched off his phone and took a nap in Dolly’s break room at the sanatorium. At 1:00 am, he headed to the hospital with the patient’s family.

Before the surgery, no one had disclosed that Joseph would be leading the operation. But as soon as he entered the pre-op room, the doctors immediately understood. A procedure this difficult could only be handled by someone with Joseph’s talent and nerve.

During the operation, the entire surgical area was sealed off, preventing unrelated medical staff from entering or leaving.

At 6:30 am, the operation was successfully completed. The patient was in good condition, and an hour after surgery, he woke up and gave Joseph a thumbs-up.

Joseph let out a long breath of relief. He handed off the post-op treatment and care to the doctors there. Just as he was about to leave, Mason’s secretary stopped him as Mason wanted to see him.

When Joseph got to Mason’s office, he noticed a bump on Mason’s forehead. After asking about it, he learned that Mason had fallen and injured himself.
