Joseph hadn’t expected Victor to die like that. Even though he never liked Victor’s arrogant, condescending attitude, he was actually considering using Victor to challenge Jenna in a battle of medicine.

His plan had been to poison Victor and have Jenna cure him. If she failed, she would have no choice but to watch Victor die before her own eyes.

But somehow, Victor had died in a woman’s bed instead.

After leaving Jenton University Hospital, Joseph returned to the sanatorium and retrieved his phone. The moment he powered it on, a flood of messages appeared. Most of them were from Cora, asking where he had gone.

Some of them were messages from Kenneth with news of Victor’s death. There were even photographs of the body.

Joseph contacted Kenneth to get the full story and was soon sent several photos from the scene. They were quite difficult to look at.

It seemed like things were getting more absurd by the day.

Yet, when Joseph saw the woman involved, something felt strangely familiar. If she hadn’t been taller and more voluptuous, Joseph would have sworn it was Jenna.

Was she a twin? Or perhaps a relative?

He instructed Kenneth to investigate the woman before finally taking a short rest. Then, he headed to the Traditional Medicine Center.

By the time he arrived, Yara had already regained consciousness. Since the doctors found nothing seriously wrong, she was discharged at her own insistence.

She hadn’t called the police. She intended to take revenge on Joseph in her own way. She would return whatever he’d done to her tenfold.

Joseph arrived at the ward and examined the girls. Their complexion had improved noticeably, and their energy had largely recovered. There was no longer cause for concern.

He said to Helen, “They’ll be fine. Let them recover at home. The environment there will be better for them.”

Helen was surprised. She naturally preferred it if the girls could recover at home, but was Joseph telling the truth? Did he have any other motives?

Recently, Joseph had been acting increasingly distant toward the children. If he truly resented them, this concern might have been simply an act.

Unable to decide for herself, Helen called Cora. Cora said she was almost at the hospital and would discuss it in

person.

So, Joseph waited there for a while. Then, he accompanied Cora to speak with the attending physician. Surprisingly, Jenna wasn’t at work, and Arthur was overseeing the case instead.

Since Joseph himself had approved the discharge, and Jenna had apparently raised no objections, Arthur simply had Cora sign the paperwork.

The girls jumped into the car, but Joseph remained where he was. Cora called out to him, “Honey, what are you standing there for? Come home with us.”

He said, “I heard Jenna didn’t come to work because she’s too embarrassed after Victor died in bed. Is that true?”

Arthur nearly choked. “Dr. Hart, please don’t spread false rumors. And certainly don’t add to them. Victor’s personal conduct was questionable, but it wasn’t with Jenna. She spent the entire night in the hospital yesterday.. The woman involved was someone else.”

Joseph grinned mischievously. “Where there’s smoke, there’s fire. I’ve always thought their relationship seemed unusual.”
