“Cora, you went behind my back and fooled around with those men. I was blind to have trusted you.

“I’m just a nobody. That’s why I could never reach your circle. But Yara is a Zahn, so her status and social standing are higher than yours. You may be able to keep things from me, but you may not be able to hide them from Yara.”

Rage surged through Joseph in an instant. He almost lost control and ran over to interrogate Cora, demanding to know who her other lovers were.

But if Joseph exposed his identity, Cora would simply deny everything, and Yara would use that opportunity to pressure him into treating her.

By then, he would no longer be in control of the situation.

Right now, Yara and Cora were fighting with each other, and that was the best possible situation for him. He would let them tear each other apart, and both sides would suffer.

“Get out!” Cora ordered.

Joseph wasn’t pleased to hear that. Instead of leaving the room, he walked over to the bedside table and said, “I work for Ms. Zahn, and I’ll only take orders from her now.

“She’s not very mobile at the moment. I’m worried you’d hurt her.”

Yara was very pleased with Joseph’s attitude and stared at Cora provocatively. “That’s right. He works for me. Only I can give him orders, but not you!”

“But does he know what happened to you at Moon Lake?” Cora asked icily.

“Henry, you’re dismissed!” At Cora’s words, Yara’s smug expression froze, and she ordered Joseph to leave.

Moon Lake, huh? What did Yara do over there? It looked like both she and Cora were rotten.

Still, Joseph had no choice but to leave. He looked at Cora’s calm expression, wishing he could slap her hard. Then he would spit in her face and call her “Bitch!”

Jenna came looking for Joseph. Once she was certain he had no new injuries, she relaxed. Still, she warned him not to do anything in Skylar’s room.

That prompted Joseph to ask, “What kind of person do you think Skylar is? Narrow-minded and petty?”

“He needs to reassert his authority right now! Now that he’s been beaten up, the family is reconsidering his position.

“Skylar’s in a volatile state now. If you cross him right now, do you really think he’ll spare you? Use your head, okay?” Jenna was afraid someone nearby might overhear their conversation, so she didn’t dare to spell it out for

him.

“Oh? His position in the family might change? There’s a chance he could get demoted?”

“Just pay attention. If the bodyguards outside his door are removed, that means Skylar’s standing has changed.

“Don’t bother looking into this! The less you know about the Zahns, the safer you are!” From a distance, Jenna saw the elevator doors open. When Reuben and the others stepped out, she stopped whispering with Joseph.

“His body is rejecting it.” Reuben’s answer was short, and his voice was stern. He then hurried toward Edmund’s hospital root.

Jenna told Joseph to keep up with them.

Even though he found it strange, he figured this was just one of the risks associated with exchange transfusion. He followed the group inside the room, but he could only stand off to the side.

Reuben was taking Edmund’s pulse while Edmund remained lying in bed. No one dared utter a word, and all that remained was the sound of medical equipment beeping.

Joseph noticed that the readings on the monitor were clearly low, yet Edmund still wasn’t out of the woods./
