Chapter 497
Joseph couldn’t get anything out of Yara, but he wasn’t in a hurry and decided to leave instead.
Around 3:00 pm, Edmund’s condition worsened. Jenna and the others hurried over to perform the standard emergency measures but to no avail.
It wasn’t long before a hearse arrived and took Edmund’s body away.
Joseph returned to Yara’s room and told her everything that had happened. As he spoke, he watched her gradually drift off to sleep. Her soft snores indicated that she had already fallen into a deep slumber, and a smile spread
across her face.
Edmund had just died, yet Yara was smiling in her sleep. She really was something else.
When Yara was a child, Edmund had used her for her blood plasma. Joseph should have felt sorry for her, yet he couldn’t bring himself to forgive the way she and Skylar had treated him like a fool.
Joseph looked at Yara, his gaze conflicted. Still, he didn’t let his sympathy get the better of him.
Joseph was slacking off in the main office when Jenna summoned him into her office. She asked, “Forget about your issues with Skylar for now. Can you tell him how to treat this postoperative infection?”
Joseph went through the test results. He realized Skylar had developed an infection and was already running a fever.
Jenna and her associates had taken measures to bring down his fever and even gave him anti-infective medicine.
Joseph replied, “Just stick with your current treatment plan. Since it’s not working, you can increase the dosage. You have the miracle pill as a backup, so there’s no need to worry about the side effects.”
Jenna knew Joseph would never be so magnanimous and didn’t push him. Seeing his injured hand, she knew he was even less likely to treat Skylar.
Not long after, Gemma came in and got straight to the point. “Jenna, find a way to get me admitted to the hospital. I really don’t want to attend that old geezer’s funeral.”
Joseph asked, “You’re not going? I was hoping you’d lead the way. I’ve already accepted Yara’s money to go in her place.”
Gemma changed her mind and said, “I guess I’ll go then. If they find you wandering around Emerald Mountain, you’ll be captured.”
“Just stay with me, and don’t wander off,” Jenna said, finding it strange that Joseph was so eager to help Yara.
But something else came to her mind. Joseph was definitely using this opportunity to learn more about the Zahns. He really knew how to take advantage of every opportunity that came his way.
Suddenly, Arthur knocked on the door and entered the room, saying, “Michael Banks is very ill and has been admitted to the Jenton University Hospital.
“The higher-ups have organized a joint consultation, and we need to send someone too. Dr. Zahn, I’m afraid we’ll have to trouble you.”
Jenna agreed to take on the case and took Joseph along with her.
Michael was 68 years old. He was the former head of the Banks family and the former chairman of Banks Group. He was in critical condition after suffering a stroke-induced cerebral hemorrhage and was now unconscious.

While Jenton University Hospital was preparing for surgery, they also gathered the specialists for a consultation.
The Banks family wanted Jenton University Hospital to find the best doctor to be the lead surgeon. They even demanded a 100% success rate, putting Mason in a difficult position.
Mason had people search for Joseph while requesting help from the higher-ups.
