So Joseph stayed back at the hospital.

Once Jenna stepped into the elevator and went down, Cora asked, “What were you two whispering about earlier? Is something wrong with the operation?”

“One of the Zahns had taken ill. That’s why Jenna was in a hurry to return. This operation is really complex too. I’m not skilled enough, so I can’t tell if there’s anything wrong,” Joseph said casually.

Just then, a tall, middle-aged man with striking features approached them, and Joseph’s eyes lit up with interest. It was Charlie, the man Yara had claimed to be Cora’s lover.

“Cora, the operation won’t be done anytime soon. Let’s go outside for a while,” Charlie said.

Cora nodded, paying no further attention to Joseph. She followed Charlie into another elevator and left.

“Cora, you really are something, aren’t you?” Joseph found it rather amusing. Had Cora asked him to stay behind just to see this?

“I never knew you had this side to you. You’re more complicated than I imagined! If I were looking at you right now as Joseph, I’d never get to see it.

“What is there left for me to believe in? Everything in this world is just an illusion!”

Joseph was instantly consumed by rage, but he didn’t follow Cora. He didn’t want to expose his identity, and he wasn’t interested in staying either, so he left Jenton University Hospital.

He walked past a massage parlor staffed by the blind and decided it would be a place to pass some time. He acted on the spur of the moment and walked in to book a session.

Of course, it was a legitimate place, so he only asked the blind masseuse to massage his shoulders and lower back. Unexpectedly, he was able to relax in a way he rarely did.

After returning to the dorm at the Traditional Medicine Center, Joseph removed the splint on his hand and administered acupuncture on himself.

A few minutes later, Jenna showed up.

Astonished, Joseph asked, “What brings you here? I thought you had gone out for dinner with Gemma.”

“Gemma went to see Skylar, so she doesn’t have time for me. I happened to see you, so I thought I’d come over and check on you. Why aren’t you with your wife at the Jenton University Hospital?”

Jenna was curious about Joseph’s treatment method, seeing how quickly he was recovering. In a few days, his finger would probably be able to move around like normal. As long as he didn’t lift anything heavy or strain it, he should have no problem returning to a normal life.

“Cora has plenty of men around her, so she doesn’t need me. What do I even matter to her? Besides, look at me now. What woman in her right mind would choose me?”

Joseph didn’t want to talk about Cora. Even mentioning her made his heart ache, leaving him conflicted.

Instead, he became interested in what Jenna had brought up earlier and asked, “Now that Skylar’s father has passed away, and Gemma went over to comfort him, I don’t think it’s just a fling between them. They clearly have feelings for each other.”

“I can’t comment on that,” Jenna said helplessly, staring at the needles covering his hand and arm. Some of the

“What’s so hard about that? The Croma faction, Yelena, Peyton, and the others have been gathering/medical books for me every day.
