A Man with Nerves of Steel (Joseph Hart) novel Chapter 500

Chapter 500

“That won’t work. Your knowledge doesn’t measure up to mine. It wouldn’t be a fair trade for what I know. I can’t be the one getting the short end of the stick.” Joseph let out a chuckle.

“You’re so stingy!” Jenna exclaimed. She was frustrated that her medical skills couldn’t measure up to Joseph’s, but she had no choice but to acknowledge and accept it.

Half an hour later, Jenna got a call. She told Joseph it was Cora. After a brief conversation, she ended the call and said, “Too bad she still hasn’t remembered you. I regret leaving you there earlier.”

Clearly, Cora hadn’t even brought up Henry during the call earlier.

Joseph showed no interest. After finishing his acupuncture treatment, he had Jenna leave his room.

“Oh? Aren’t you coming back with me? Gemma said she wants to test us.”

“Gemma’s being ridiculous, and you’re going along with it? You just want to sleep with me, don’t you?

“We don’t have to go to your room for that. We can do it right now. Come have your way with me.” Joseph smiled faintly. He lay on the bed, gesturing for Jenna to take the lead.

Jenna chuckled. Of course, she had no intention of sleeping with Joseph, so she opened the door and left.

Joseph simply rested, and nothing happened throughout the night.

The next day, he met up with Jenna, who said, “I have news from the Jenton University Hospital.

“The surgery yesterday didn’t go very well, and the outcome wasn’t what they hoped for. The patient may never wake up.”

“Oh? Well, I still have faith in the doctors there. I’m sure they’ll have a way. Besides, the Lowell and the Banks families are loaded. They could pull off things we could never imagine,” Joseph replied, not seeming concerned at all.

Instead, Joseph’s attention was on Yara and Skylar. He was wondering how he could outsmart her today.

Still, he didn’t talk to Jenna much, as she had to quickly treat the Zahns before heading to Edmund’s funeral.

Joseph entered Yara’s hospital room and realized she was clearly in better spirits than she had been yesterday. In fact, she seemed more positive than she had been at any point since she was admitted to the hospital.

Yara asked, “Where did you go last night?”

Joseph had been trying to figure out how to bring up that topic. As luck would have it, the perfect opportunity fell into his lap.

He said, “Mr. Banks Senior suddenly suffered a cerebral hemorrhage, so we went over there for a consultation.

“Jenna pulled me into it, and I basically went there for nothing. It was a waste of my time and energy.”

“Oh? How did the treatment go?”

“I’m not entirely sure, but based on the pre-op examination, Mr. Banks Senior was already at death’s door. But at that level of cerebral hemorrhage, Joseph had performed many surgeries like that at Jenton University Hospital and succeeded.

“The surgical incisions healed really well, and many patients were able to return to their normal jobs. If Joseph

had stepped in, he definitely could’ve saved Mr. Banks Senior. Ms. Zahn, given your condition, I still think you should get Joseph to treat you.”

“But where’s Joseph?”

Joseph shrugged, indicating that he had no idea. He simply brought it up so that Yara wouldn’t forget about him.

He cleared his throat and asked, “Are you certain you want me to pay respects on your behalf? The truth is, if you show up there in a wheelchair, you’ll earn even more sympathy. It’d help boost your reputation.”

“So you think I should be there?”

“I’m not telling you what to do. It’s up to you.”

“Tell me. Do you think I should go?”
