Chapter 504
“I just got back from abroad and haven’t seen Mr. Zahn Senior in a long time. I thought I’d come by and see him.
“Since now isn’t a good time, we’ll be leaving,” Gemma said. She shot Joseph a look that seemed to say, “I guess we came at a bad time,” before turning to leave.
“Hold up. I’ve never seen you before.” Shane opened the courtyard gate and seized Joseph’s uninjured wrist without warning. He squeezed hard enough that Joseph couldn’t help but groan in pain.
Jenna and Gemma were shocked, and Jenna quickly said, “Mr. Turner, this is Henry Jebb, my assistant and my boyfriend. He means no harm.”
Shane tucked his woven fan into the back of his waistband. He then reached out and yanked off Joseph’s mask.
After seeing an ordinary yet unfamiliar face, he pried open Joseph’s mouth and examined his teeth. Finding/ nothing suspicious, he let Joseph go and said, “Since you’re with Jenna, you should know what kind of place this is. Don’t come here without permission again.”
“Got it!” Joseph quickly replied. He hadn’t expected Shane to be a skilled doctor as well.
In such a short time, Shane had already taken Joseph’s pulse to determine whether he was a martial artist. He even checked Joseph’s mouth to see if he was concealing any weapons, such as poison-filled fake teeth or a blade hidden beneath his tongue.
Joseph, Jenna, and Gemma walked away.
Shane was still a bit puzzled. A moment ago, he had sensed something amiss, yet he never expected Joseph to be nothing more than a weakling.
After walking a safe distance away, Jenna finally sighed in relief. She looked at Joseph, her eyes filled with worry and a hint of reproach.
“Mr. Turner is an excellent fighter and has even taken lives before. I was afraid he’d kill you when he went after you! And you still want to see Mr. Zahn Senior again?”
“Never! I’m not ready to die yet!” Joseph pretended to back down, but inwardly, his resolve hardened.
Given his low standing, there was no way he could approach Owen through conventional means. He would simply have to resort to unorthodox methods.
Joseph wasn’t overly concerned about Shane’s reputation as a killer. After all, Shane was already elderly. No matter how skilled he was in martial arts, Joseph could still bring him down with a few dirty tricks.
Besides, it was far easier to handle those whose only advantage was physical strength. All he had to do was strip away their ability to fight.
After all, Joseph had already crippled Ella and Skylar’s subordinate using a few underhanded tactics.
Gemma studied Joseph more closely, suspecting Shane had another reason for examining him earlier. She decided she needed to figure out who Joseph really was.
“We’re not at the Traditional Medicine Center. Don’t wander off!” Jenna said before leaving.
After parting ways with Gemma, Jenna turned to Joseph and said, “It seems like your wife wants to talk to me about Michael’s treatment.
“She might even ask me to go to Jenton University Hospital. I’m afraid you won’t be able to resist getting

involved, so you’d better not come along. I’ll arrange for you to escort Yara back instead.”

“That’s fine with me. I don’t want to see Cora and the others at all,” Joseph said. There was no way he would involve himself in Michael’s treatment anyway; he was afraid he would lose his temper if he saw Cora and her lover together.
After parting ways with Jenna, Joseph headed over to Yara’s place. Since she was resting, her housekeeper wouldn’t let him inside, forcing him to wait in the courtyard outside.
A moment later, Cora and Belinda arrived as well, though the housekeeper denied them entry too.
