A Man with Nerves of Steel (Joseph Hart) novel Chapter 513

Chapter 513

Cora instructed her people to go all out to find Joseph. She believed he hadn’t gone far and was still hiding in Jenton.

She also had her subordinates seize control of Joseph’s chemical company. Even if they couldn’t find him, she wanted to make sure he had no place to hide.

Joseph Hart Clinic was no exception. She tracked down the person who had taken over the clinic and forced them to transfer the ownership to her.

At the same time, Cora began looking into all the doctors and nurses who knew Joseph well. She sent people to search every place she could think of. When her own resources ran thin, she pulled Belinda and Peyton in to help.

Belinda and Peyton were visibly displeased, believing that Cora was overreacting and wasting their resources.

Cora argued, “You and I have completely underestimated Joseph. He didn’t actually disappear on holiday. He deliberately went into hiding so he could get back at everyone who betrayed him. You two are his targets as well.”

Belinda disagreed, shaking her head. “That’s impossible. You’re being dramatic.”

Peyton spoke up too. “Joseph was the one who cured my father. I even gave him money and helped him out. Why would he even come after me? That doesn’t make any sense.”

Cora replied flatly, “It’s because of me. You’re working with me, which makes you a thorn in his side.

“Think about it. If he really trusted you as his friends, wouldn’t he have told you where he was going?

“Peyton, last time, your people were beaten and severely wounded. If Joseph really cared about you, he would’ve stepped in to save them, but he didn’t. All he did was watch them die. I’ve lived with Joseph for almost 20 years. I know what kind of man he really is. He always makes his enemies pay for what they did to him.”

Belinda felt an inexplicable shiver run down her spine upon hearing that Joseph was a ruthless man who never let his enemies off the hook. The teacup slipped from her fingers, shattering against the carpet.

Cora looked over. “What’s wrong?”

“No… Nothing. The cup was just too hot to hold,” Belinda hastily explained.

Peyton’s brows furrowed. She had tried searching for Joseph as well, but he had kept himself completely hidden. Perhaps he truly no longer considered her a friend.

At the time, Peyton didn’t think Joseph was all that important to her. She figured that as long as she and her subordinates remained healthy, they had no need for his medical expertise anyway. Yet, reality proved her wrong far sooner than she expected. She had already lost several people-some killed, others permanently incapacitated.

Suddenly, Cora’s phone rang. It was one of her subordinates, informing her that Lexi had arrived and demanded to see her regarding Joseph.

As soon as Lexi walked into the room, she ignored Belinda and Peyton entirely and got straight to the point. “Cora, hand that bastard Joseph over right now! I want him to pay for what he’s done!”

“Mind your tone!” Cora snapped, displeased, though she kept her cool for the sake of the situation. “Go on. What did my husband do to you? Did he lead you on and dump you?”

Lexi let out a bitter scoff. “Over a month ago, Joseph ambushed my brother and left him broken.

“When I went to him for help later, he claimed there was no cure. The truth was, he was orchestrating the whole
