A Man with Nerves of Steel (Joseph Hart) novel Chapter 514

Chapter 514

“Are you victims too?” Lexi asked, surprised. Since they were all searching for Joseph, the more people involved, the better their chances. So, she agreed to join them.

The group discussed and began assigning tasks. Before leaving, Belinda shot Cora a look, signaling that she wanted to speak in private.

Once they entered Cora’s office, Belinda pulled out a picture. It showed Joseph at Lowell Group during the fire back when he had still been working as a doctor.

Belinda began, “There was something Jonas kept pressing me about, but I never told him the truth. He wanted to know why I hired someone to set your building on fire. You and I never had any personal grudge. Everything was Joseph’s idea.”

Those words hit Cora like a thunderbolt. She had suspected countless people, but she had never suspected Joseph. She couldn’t believe the culprit was him.

It was the man she had shared a bed with for nearly 20 years. It was the man who had been the foundation of her love. Now, the person she had loved the most had become the one who had hurt her the deepest.

Belinda continued, “Cora, Joseph has always believed you cheated on him and betrayed him. That’s why he has been searching for evidence and waiting for the right chance to get revenge.

“He’s a doctor, but he’s ruthless. When he decides to be ruthless, he goes insane. He’s capable of things most people wouldn’t even dare to do. He has made enemies everywhere now. Jenton has no place for him. I can’t stay on the same side as him anymore either.”

Cora’s mind went blank. She didn’t want to say anything. Instead, she just waved Belinda away. Half an hour later, she arrived at the hospital.

Cora intercepted Jenna, who was getting off work, and dragged the latter to Yara’s ward. Now, Yara and Skylar had no bodyguards guarding their wards. Even though they were still in the ICU department, nothing prevented Cora from walking in.

Pointing at Jenna, Cora asked Yara, “She knew where Joseph had been this whole time. She has been working with him. Don’t you want to recover? Make her hand him over.”

Yara turned toward Jenna, suspicion and anger flashing across her face. She questioned, “Is she telling the truth?”

“No,” answered Jenna. Looking at Cora, who was arrogant, only made Jenna more determined not to give Cora what she wanted. Jenna wasn’t going to tell Cora where Joseph was.

Cora sneered. “I can’t believe you’re still denying it. Before Joseph disappeared, the last person he contacted was you. You’re the only one who knows where he is.”

Jenna shot back, “Cora, what are you trying to do? Are you turning my patient against me?”

At that moment, Jenna understood why even someone as capable as Joseph could never get through to Cora. Cora was just too overbearing. She was too convinced that she was always right.

Cora warned, “You had better confess. Otherwise, I have ways to make you talk.”

Jenna replied, “I have no idea what you’re talking about. What are you expecting me to confess? Everyone knows what happened between you and Joseph. You two can settle your own problems. Don’t drag the rest of us into it.”

Jenna wasn’t intimidated in the slightest. As a member of the Zahn medical sect, no one in Jenton could threaten

“Jenna, you can leave,” said Yara.

Yara could tell that Cora was being aggressive, so Yara wasn’t just going to let Cora do whatever she wanted.
