A Man with Nerves of Steel (Joseph Hart) novel Chapter 515

Chapter 515

Upon seeing that Henry was indeed ill, Cora didn’t connect Henry with Joseph. After giving a warning look, she turned and left.

Jenna closed the door and asked in a low voice, “Did you slip up somewhere? Why is your wife acting like she’s about to explode? She was determined to make me tell her where you are.”

Joseph reassured, “I haven’t exposed anything on my end. She must have discovered something else. She has already taken over my company and clinic. She’s trying to cut off all my escape routes and force me to show myself.

“Don’t worry. As long as you keep insisting that you don’t know where I am, there’s nothing anyone can do to you.

Joseph rehearsed some responses with Jenna for dealing with interrogation and avoiding being tricked into revealing information. He also warned her to stay alert in case the Zahn medical sect or the Zahn family conducted a loyalty investigation.

No matter what happened, Joseph believed that he still needed to keep pretending to be Henry.

Meanwhile, as soon as Jenna returned to her department, Gemma pulled Jenna aside. Gemma asked, feeling worried and anxious, “Jenna, someone has ordered an investigation into you. Did you betray the Zahn family?”

It was just as Joseph had predicted. Although Jenna had a panicked expression, she was calm inside. Feeling helpless, she answered, “I can withstand any investigation they throw at me. I’ve done nothing that betrays the Zahn family. I’ll comply with the investigation.

“Gemma, while I’m being investigated, please look after Henry. You got him drunk, and he carried both of us home. He’s completely exhausted.”

The first person Jenna worried about was Joseph. It was partly because she had developed feelings for him. Aside from that, she knew an investigation meant returning to Emerald Mountain, and ‘she didn’t know when she would be allowed to leave again.

“You don’t have to worry about him. I’ll take good care of him,” responded Gemma. Seeing that Jenna willingly accepted the investigation instead of trying to run, Gemma felt there probably wasn’t anything seriously wrong.

Soon, Jenna received a call. She was instructed to hand over her work to Gemma and return to Emerald Mountain.

The investigation had started the moment the first phone call came in. The call was to give Jenna enough time and opportunity to flee. However, she didn’t overthink it and did as instructed. After handing over her work, she got into her car and drove to Emerald Mountain.

As Jenna passed through the hospital entrance, she realized she couldn’t bear to leave Joseph behind. She thought, “Joseph, you have to stay safe. Wait for me to come back.”

After finishing work, Gemma packed dinner for Joseph and headed to the dorm to look after him. She had a key. Upon entering the dorm, she found him fast asleep. The IV drip had already emptied. Blood had flowed slightly back into the tubing and had begun clotting.

How long had he been sleeping? She walked over and removed the needle. As she pulled back part of the blanket, she noticed that his body was having a strong physiological reaction. He was asleep, yet he was still thinking about doing such things?

Seeing that Joseph was sleeping deeply, Gemma decided not to wake him. Then, a mischievous idea popped into

her head. She pulled out her phone.

Joseph had no idea what was going on. Although his disguise had been successful, maintaining it placed an unnatural strain on his body. Combined with the fact that he had intentionally given himself a fever, his body had fallen into a deep sleep to recover.

Since he was in a deep sleep, he was completely unaware of anything happening around him. By the time he finally woke up, it was already late at night. The IV drip was gone, and someone had removed the needle. He assumed that Jenna had done it.

Joseph noticed the evidence of a nocturnal emission. After checking himself, he saw that his pants hadn’t been removed and there were no signs that anyone had touched him. Naturally, it never crossed his mind that Jenna might have taken advantage of him while he slept.
