Chapter 516
When Joseph finally got back in touch with the outside world, he found a message from Paula. She asked if he was the one who had set fire to Lowell Group.
If even Paula knew, Cora definitely knew by now as well. It was no wonder Cora had stormed into Traditional Medicine Center and questioned Jenna.
Belinda really couldn’t be trusted. In fact, no one could be trusted. Fortunately, Joseph had already ordered his people to lie low, so he wasn’t worried about getting exposed.
Joseph didn’t completely trust Jenna either, so he left the dorm. He happened to pass the blind massage parlor he had visited before. Seeing that it was open for business, he decided to stop in.
After the massage, he felt better. The blind masseuse’s skill at stimulating pressure points improved the bruising left from the kicks he had taken.
The blind masseuse asked, “Sir, I’m not sure if I should ask this, but are you aware that some of your meridians have been sealed?”
Upon hearing that, Joseph was stunned. He studied the blind masseuse more closely. Although she wore sunglasses, he could see through the gaps that her eye sockets were fused shut.
She was truly blind. Her face was covered with acne as well, so customers rarely requested her. In fact, the only two clients she had had recently were both him.
Joseph replied, “My body is special. I have to stay like this to function normally. Thank you for your concern, though.”
Then, Joseph took the opportunity to change the subject. He asked the blind masseuse why she worked there and how much she earned. He got the answers he wanted. She needed money, but business was poor.
It was partly because she was ugly and also because she refused to offer anything beyond legitimate massages.
Joseph suggested that the blind masseuse shouldn’t work in such places and that he could go to her place instead. In that way, the massage parlor wouldn’t take a commission, and she would get to keep all the money herself.
The blind masseuse hesitated briefly before agreeing. She led Joseph to her apartment. It was a three-room unit in an old residential complex. Inside was another young woman confined to a wheelchair.
The young woman wasn’t blind, but from the way she coughed, Joseph could tell she had a chronic lung condition. Sensing her wariness, he acted in a friendly way. Of course, he paid first. At that moment, her expression became
warmer.
Money truly did open doors. Its power wasn’t exaggerated at all.
Since Joseph had already received a massage earlier, he didn’t ask for another. Instead, he chatted with the two women for a while before leaving.
That night, Joseph checked into a hotel that didn’t require identification and stayed there. After lunch the next day, he returned for another massage.
As time passed, the young woman in the wheelchair realized that Joseph was upright. He only requested ordinary massages, just like what the blind masseuse had said.
So, the young woman’s opinion of Joseph improved considerably. Taking the opportunity, she asked if he would be interested in buying a monthly package.

Joseph found the young woman similar to Brooke. He actually missed Brooke a bit. Since he couldn’t reveal his actual appearance, he couldn’t go back to see her.
Besides, staying away was the best way to protect both Rosalie and Brooke from being dragged into this mess.
Joseph agreed to the monthly package. After all, it only cost a few thousand dollars, and money wasn’t, something he lacked. After staying there for two days, his body had fully recovered. It was only then that he returned to the hospital.
