A Man with Nerves of Steel (Joseph Hart) novel Chapter 525

Chapter 525

Yara didn’t see Joseph as a threat at all. To her, he was just an ordinary doctor with neither a powerful background nor useful connections.

And even if he learned the details of the project, there was nothing he could do about it.

Seeing Yara warming up to Joseph, Cora remained wary. But as the conversation went on and they began discussing the project’s confidential details, she could no longer keep everything hidden.

After the discussion ended, Cora lingered outside for a bit. The second Joseph walked out, she cornered him. ” You’d better act like you didn’t hear a single thing in there. Otherwise… Heh.”

The unspoken threat was obvious enough.

People disappearing without a trace was something that happened every day in this world. And the reason behind it was an open secret.

Joseph mused, “You’re threatening me, eh? Unfortunately for you, I heard everything. And I’m not about to let you guys have it easy. I’ll ruin your project sooner or later. All a monopoly does is feed your greed…”

He said, “We’re talking about a multi-billion-dollar project here. Do you really think a guy making 3,000 dollars a month has anything to do with that? I know my place.”

Cora didn’t completely buy it. “It’s only been a few days since I last saw you, and suddenly you’re on Yara’s good side. You’re clearly not as useless as you claim to be.

“Your humble and harmless act is just a front for your hidden agenda.”

“The truth is, I’m just Jenna’s boyfriend and a lowly doctor. To Ms. Zahn, I’m nothing more than a piece of trash. Do you really think my relationship with her has improved?”

Belinda had heard enough. She couldn’t stand Joseph’s infuriating tolerance or his ugly face for another second. He just repulsed her for some reason, so she told him to get lost before dragging Cora away.

Looking at Joseph’s hunched back as he walked away, Cora fell into thought. “Tell me, how could a woman as extraordinary as Jenna fall for such a plain, ugly guy?

“And then there’s Yara. She’s always had impossibly high standards, yet she’s treating him like family. Don’t you think something’s off here?”

“Didn’t we already test him last time? He’s just a useless loser who could only hide and lick his wounds when he got beaten. He can’t do anything.”

Belinda thought that if a guy as ugly as Henry was ever on top of her, she’d literally puke.

“Let’s find another chance to test him. I want to see what he’s really capable of.”

Cora had an inexplicable feeling that “Henry” was dangerous. By all accounts, he was just an ordinary doctor and a complete nobody, but the feeling refused to go away. She had to be careful.

Meanwhile, Joseph put together everything he’d heard and fired it off to Yasmin, Yelena, and the others. He wasn’t capable of taking on Cora and Yara head-on, so he had no choice but to use one threat to deal with another.

Later, Gemma called Joseph over to check on another patient from the Zahn family. She said to him, “Make sure you do a good job. I’ll put in a good word for you with them so that they really believe you and Jenna are genuinely in love. That way, they won’t think that she has anything to do with Joseph.”

“Thank you for going through all this trouble for us, Gemma. I’ll definitely make the most of it,” Joseph said, acting as though he had everything under control.

But the second he stepped into the hospital room, he played the part of someone whose abilities fell short, wearing a look of helpless resignation.

Gemma didn’t hold it against him. After all, even she was powerless in that situation.
