A Man with Nerves of Steel (Joseph Hart) novel Chapter 552

Chapter 552

Gemma agreed. “It’s true. That amount is hardly enough to make up for the physical and emotional damage you’ve suffered. They should have offered at least five million dollars.”

Joseph shook his head. “If I ask for too much, it’ll look like extortion, and I’ll be the one in trouble. Besides, forcing the richest woman in Jenton to bow her head to me is honestly much more satisfying than making a few million dollars.”

Jenna knew exactly what Joseph was really after. “I’m with you on this.”

Gemma swallowed the words of caution she had been about to say and nodded in agreement with Jenna.

“Since you’re joining the medical sect, you’re one of us now,” she said. “Naturally, we can’t let any outsiders mistreat you. Even if this had happened before you officially joined the medical sect, we still would have had your back. We’ll even rally more people to your side.”

Jenna added, “We submitted the application before you were assaulted. As far as we’re concerned, you’re already one of us.”

Gemma sighed. “That’s true. Look at you, Jenna, being so protective of your man. The two of you were apart for a while, but somehow your relationship seems even stronger than before.”

Glancing at Jenna, Gemma suddenly felt a sharp pang of jealousy.

Jenna said, “I was summoned back so they could test my loyalty, and Cora had a hand in that. I don’t like her, either. Suppose we can force her to swallow her pride and apologize to Henry. I’d love to see it happen. Right, Henry?”

Joseph nodded. “Absolutely. The Lowell family needs to apologize.”

Joseph realized that Jenna was trying to compete with Cora. She wanted to use him to break away from the Zahn family and eventually leave Jenton.

Cora, on the other hand, wanted to keep Joseph around to preserve the strange family dynamic she had built. Her body still craved the comfort and intimacy he provided.

Joseph saw right through it all, but he kept his mouth shut. After finishing his fruit, he went back to his room to sleep.

Later, after Jenna had showered, Gemma pulled her into her room. “I heard the old witch was at Emerald Mountain too. Did she put you through the wringer this time?”

Jenna didn’t bother denying it. “You know what kind of games the Zahn family likes to play.”

“Who was it?” Gemma asked.

“Harold,” Jenna replied.

Gemma raised an eyebrow. “Are you going to tell Henry?”

Jenna shook her head. “How could I possibly tell him? It hasn’t happened yet. I’ll just deal with it when the time comes.”

Jenna knew Henry’s true identity. If she told him about what had happened or what might happen, he would never accept it.

Unsure of how to comfort her, Gemma changed the subject to lighter topics. However, she had already made up

her mind-she was going to tell Henry the truth the first chance she got.

The rest of the night passed uneventfully.

The next morning, Joseph and the others returned to the hospital, only to run into Fiona again.

Jenna immediately stepped in. “We don’t want the money. Tell Cora to bring Natalie here to apologize in person. When you do something wrong, you own up to it. That’s how the world works. People aren’t going to keep letting her off the hook.”

She didn’t even give Joseph a chance to speak to Fiona. Once they entered the medical wing, she strictly forbade Fiona-or any other outsider-from accompanying them.
