“Henry, stop massaging her It’s useless. Come with me.” Gemma entered the hospital room and saw Joseph’s hand moving over Yara’s thigh. Although a bedsheet separated them, it still looked to Gemma as though they were practically touching skin- to-skin. Her heart twisted.
She was jealous, and she had no confidence slfe could compete with Yara for a man.
The Zahn family had its rules. If someone from the man family took an interest in a rnan, even the medical sect and other affiliated factions had to step aside.
Yara snorted. “Henry, don’t listen to her. If I weren’t in this condition; she would never dare to disobey an order I gave. She’d be nothing but my obedient lapdog. Keep massaging me. Take your time, and do it right in front of her.”
She looked at Gemma provocatively, her attitude as haughty as ever.
Gemma frowned in displeasure. “Have you still not accepted reality? Even if you manage to recover from this, by the time you leave the hospital, this whole game will already be over. As for Harold, he’ll probably leave you with nothing.”
Joseph put on a miserable expression. “Ladies, you’re both like goddesses to me. Please stop fighting over me. If this keeps up, I’ll have no choice but to tear myself in half and give you each a piece.”
The two women clearly despised each other, but neither continued to argue. After all, what was the point of making things difficult for a little nobody like Joseph?
Gemma walked over and pulled Joseph away. “Come on. We’re going to Jenton University Hospital.”
“Jenton University Hospital?” Joseph asked. “Why are we going there?”
“To look for Joseph,” Gemma replied. “He appeared there last night and must have left behind some clues. We’ll go see how he managed to get in.”
“You’re way too late,” Yara interjected. “Cora already confiscated all the surveillance footage and records.”
“Then I’ll go look for Cora instead,” Gemma countered.
Joseph shook his head. “I can’t. I have some history with Cora. She said she’d castrate me if I ever fell into her hands again. I’m already so terrified that I barely have the guts to leave the hospital. If I go looking for her now, wouldn’t I just be walking straight into a trap?”
Yara nodded dismissively. “Just go. You’re representing me. If she gives you trouble, she’ll be answering to me. I have leverage over her, so she’ll have to show me some respect.”
Leverage? It seemed like Cora really had gone too far.
Joseph silently committed Yara’s words to memory. He would have to find an opportunity to pry that information from her and learn exactly what Cora had done.
Joseph wanted to swing by the office to tell Jenna he was leaving, but he learned she had already gone into surgery to perform a cardiac stent procedure on a patient.
It seemed Jenna truly refused to admit defeat. She was still trying to surpass him in medicine.
Joseph shook his head. Competing with Jenna had never been his goal.
He left with Gemma and headed straight for the new Lowell Group headquarters.
On the way, Gemma shot him a sideways glance. “Tell me something. When you were massaging Yara, were you actually treating her, or were you taking advantage of the situation?”
“I was treating her!” Joseph said firmly. Who would ever admit to taking advantage of someone?

Gemma thought to herself that Henry really knew how to play dumb.
She knew Joseph wasn’t exactly the most disciplined man in the world. Whenever she offered him a little affection, he always seemed more than willing to accept it.
But she didn’t call him out on it; she simply smiled in silence.
Before long, they arrived at Lowell Group and were ushered into Cora’s office.
