Cora said, “Let’s put aside Joseph for now. Tell me about Skylar and his sister first. I want every single detail.”
Gemma chuckled. “As expected, that’s what you care about more. Skylar’s medical records are protected, so I can’t hand them over to you. But I can give you a general summary. He initially suffered injuries to all four limbs, and after the poisoning incident, his internal organs were damaged.
“All I can tell you is that he’s still in critical condition.”
Cora frowned. “Then tell me, is there any chance they’ll try to draw my daughter’s blood to save Skylar, like Yara did?”
Gemma shook her head. “No. But if you’re willing to consider a blood-exchange procedure, the Zahn medical sect will cooperate fully.”
Cora scoffed. “The Zahn medical sect really is exactly what Joseph said it was. Everything you do is utterly unconscionable. There’s no justice in the world if you aren’t shut down.”
Gemma replied, “Ms. Lowell, given your position, how can you still be as naive as Joseph? Of course, I’m not denying there are ethical and moral concerns involved.
“But let me ask you one question-if one day you, or your parents, needed blood plasma from a young person to preserve your own lives, what would you choose?”
“So that’s the Zahn family’s philosophy?” Cora spat. “The entire family deserves to be destroyed.”
“And yet, reality has proven otherwise,” Gemma replied. “As long as the elders remain, the Zahn family will never fall. Thanks to the fierce competition and internal selection processes, the younger generation that survives and rises through the ranks is exceptionally capable.
“I don’t personally involve myself in the main family’s affairs. However, I’ve heard that Harold, who took over for Skylar and Yara, has made things rather difficult for you regarding the Provora project.”
Gemma’s information might have been limited, but it was accurate. After Harold got involved with the Provora contract, he tore up the agreement Yara had previously reached with Cora and the others. He squeezed every possible benefit out of the deal for the Zahns, showing absolute disregard for the Lowells and the Townes.
Cora fell silent.
Gemma continued, “Ms. Lowell, finding Joseph is a common objective we both share right now. We can discuss everything else after we find him.”
“Fine.” Cora agreed. At the moment, finding Joseph truly was the more urgent matter.
Outside, Fiona escorted Joseph into a conference room and pushed him into a chair. She grabbed his injured hand, holding onto it as she calmly asked, “I heard from Cora that you wanted me to keep you company?”
Joseph feigned anxiety. “You mean Ms. Lowell? That’s impossible. I’ve never… Damn it, you’re hurting me! I’m going to sue you
Joseph hadn’t expected Fiona to be devious enough to intentionally knock his injured hand against the table. It didn’t actually hurt much, but he played along, contorting his face into an agonized expression.
“I didn’t mean anything by it. I was just shaking your hand. How are you going to sue me? At worst, I’ll just apologize,” she said with a giggle.
Fiona had no idea what Joseph was really thinking. Assuming his injured hand was his weak point, she grabbed it again, looking ready to knock it against the table a second time.
In response, Joseph reached out, making a grabbing motion toward Fiona’s chest that forced her to jump back.

“You pervert! I can sue you for this. You’ll be in prison soon enough,” Fiona snapped, frowning. She had nearly been groped.
Joseph replied shamelessty “Then you’ll have to make the fake assault real and let me actually harass you. That way, you can collect your evidence faster Come on. Otherwise, you won’t be able to keep me here once Gemma gets back.”
“People as ugly as you really do have an incredible imagination.” Fiona flashed him an alluring smile, then stepped outside.
A moment later, she returned with Shirley. Shooting Shirley a meaningful look, she called the bodyguards away.
Fiona and the bodyguards waited in the hall. The plan was simple-the moment Shirley shouted that Joseph had assaulted her, they would rush in and haul him straight to the police station.
A company as large as theirs could easily file a harassment complaint and drag the legal proceedings out until he was locked behind bars for years.
