A Man with Nerves of Steel (Joseph Hart) novel Chapter 567

Chapter 567

Cora didn’t immediately offer Joseph any tnonèy. Instead, she told him to stay in contact. If he obtained any useful information, he was to prioritize trading it with hier, her price would always be the highest.

What could Cora actually do if she found Joseph? Would she really agree to a divorce? Skylar tradn’t even been discharged from the hospital yet, so he couldn’t marry her. Without a backup plan to fall back on, how could she possibly be willing to leave her

husband?

Joseph kept these thoughts to himself, choosing not to confront Cora about it.

He headed back with Gemma, but halfway there, she suddenly asked him to get out and take a cab home, claiming she had personal business to attend to.

Joseph had an informant keep an eye on Gemma, and he quickly received a report. Gemma had gone to the sanatorium where Edmund used to stay. Further surveillance revealed she was visiting an elderly woman.

Who was that old woman? And why didn’t Gemma want Joseph to know about her?

Joseph ordered his informant to stay hidden. There was no need to look into that old woman’s identity right away. Instead, he returned to the hospital.

Jenna seemed to have lost interest in discussing the situation with Joseph. That afternoon, she even scheduled another cardiac stent procedure for herself.

Before his shift ended, Yara summoned Joseph to her room. He immediately reported, “Cora and Gemma didn’t find any leads on Joseph. Obviously, he’s terrified of being mocked, so he’s too embarrassed to show his face.”

Yara raised an eyebrow. “He’s scared of being mocked? That’s your conclusion?”

Joseph shrugged. “What else could it be? No man could easily accept finding out that his children aren’t actually his.”

Yara scoffed. “You really don’t understand Joseph. He can endure anything.”

As if.

Joseph almost walked over and slapped Yara across the face to knock some sense into her.

But he held back.

He merely smiled and asked, “How do you know him so well?”

Yara sneered. “Of course I know him well. I’m afraid Cora and I understand him even better than he understands himselt. He’s

completely in the dark about everything.”

Hearing that, Joseph suddenly felt a chill of danger. His opponents actually understood him this well, and he hadn’t realized it at

all.

He feigned awe. “That’s really impressive, Yara. Can you tell me a little more about it?”

“What’s there to say?” Yara replied. “I just didn’t expect him to get a paternity test. It completely ruined my plans. I don’t want to talk about that failure anymore, and you shouldn’t mention him in front of me again. When you went to see Cora, she didn’t give you any trouble, did she?”

She shot Joseph a warning look, clearly uninterested in discussing the matter further.

Joseph shook his head. “No trouble. I went with Gemma, after all. You must be tired. Let me give you another massage.”

He reached over and began massaging her legs. As Yara closed her eyes in comfort, Joseph deliberately probed the pressure points along her inner thighs, testing her reaction.

Yara frowned slightly, clearly noticing how bold he was getting. But considering there was still a man willing to comfort her at a time like this, she decided she might as well indulge him a little.

The man was so ugly that no woman would want him anyway. She figured she might as well let him have his fun.

So, Yara remained silent and allowed Joseph to continue, though she kept an eye on his hands to ensure he didn’t go too far.

For a moment, her mind drifted. Before she lost the use of her legs permanently, maybe she should experience what it was like to be desired as a woman. If her legs were amputated, would any man ever want to touch her again?
