“So it’s really about mutual benefit, huh? Well, I’m not sure if you’ve heard, but your daughters’ biological father, Skylar Zahn, is finally awake. Is that news worth anything to you?”

“I’ve said this many times, and I’m tired of repeating myself, but I hope you’ll stop fabricating these stories. My daughters’ biological father is, and always has been, Joseph Hart.”

His heart sank at her words. Even now, he truly couldn’t understand why she refused to admit the truth.

“Your personal affairs are indeed none of my business,” he said casually. “Regardless, Skylar’s awake. If you wish to see him or speak with him, I can arrange it.”

“That won’t be necessary. I have nothing to do with Skylar. The Zahns were behind what happened to my daughters too. If I go there, I’ll be walking right into their trap.”

Changing the subject, Cora added, “Henry, you seem to know everyone. I’m hoping you can help me find my husband, Joseph Hart. Once you do, I’ll compensate you handsomely.”

Cora was looking for him, huh? And yet she still refused to divorce him. She wanted to continue feeding him lies, forcing him to take responsibility for Skylar’s daughters.

“Ms. Lowell, you still haven’t given me what you promised back then,” Joseph pointed out. “How am I supposed to trust that you’ll compensate me well now? We may operate in different worlds, but if we’re going to work together, every deal needs to be settled on its own terms.”

Cora cut straight to the point. “So you want a photo of me, is that it? Don’t tell me you’re actually interested in me.”

Joseph let out a dry chuckle. “Of course not. You’re Mr. Zahn’s woman. I wouldn’t dream of going after you, not in a million years.

“But since you already said you’d give it to me, you aren’t going to go back on your word, right? If you make a habit of breaking your promises, you won’t get very far in Jenton. I won’t deny it, though-I enjoy learning from you.”

After ending the call, Cora immediately had her intel team verify the information Joseph had provided and ordered a deep dive into his background.

About ten minutes later, Fiona walked into Cora’s office. Rather than reprimanding her, Cora simply poured her a glass of water and asked, “Is Andrew okay?”

“I already took him to the hospital. It doesn’t look life-threatening, but he’ll be in severe pain for quite a while. I didn’t expect Henry to be so cunning.”

Fiona was furious about what Joseph had done to her. And now that Cora wasn’t even reprimanding her, she felt even worse.
