Cora called Natalie over anthasked in a low voice, “What was that about? Where did you learn such terrible manners?”
Natalie replied, “He’s still hung up on Fiona. He truly doesn’t know his worth.”
Cora responded, “Oh.”
Then, Cora glanced toward Joseph. She noticed that he and Yara were also whispering to each other.
Meanwhile, Yara was asking Joseph what had happened. Joseph told Yara that Natalie had wanted to see Skylar and had ordered him to arrange it, but he didn’t have the authority to do so, so he hadn’t dared to agree.
Yara believed Joseph and didn’t pursue the matter.
The women continued chatting casually, particularly about their recent projects. Lexi realized that she was making the least money out of everyone, so she quickly fost interest.
Lexi turned to Cora and said, “Cora, you have to find Joseph as soon as possible. It isn’t just about making him apologize to my brother and checking on his health. You also need to think about Yara.”
Lexi glanced toward Joseph, signaling for him to say something. Joseph immediately stated, “Our consultation reached the same conclusion. Based on everything we’ve seen, there’s a very good chance that Dr. Hart’s medical skills could save Yara.
“There’s already a precedent for it. Ms. Roth’s father was treated by Dr. Hart and recovered.”
Peyton added, “Joseph’s medical skills are indeed the best I’ve ever seen. If he treats Yara, there’s a good chance her leg can be saved.”
Natalie muttered, “You guys can forget about it. Joseph…”
After hearing Cora clear her throat, Natalie quickly changed her words. “I mean, we have no idea where my dad is. Maybe he went off to some remote mountain monastery to meditate or something.
“Even if we found him, there’s no guarantee he would agree to come back. You should probably find another expert.”
Natalie glanced at Yara and thought, “Why is she sick too? She might even lose her leg. She’s so pitiful.”
Cora said, “Nat, don’t say such things. Your dad was under a lot of pressure from work recently, so he went away to travel and clear his head. He’s just not contacting us because he doesn’t want anyone bothering him.”
Joseph thought, “Clear my head? You’re seriously good at making excuses for me.”
Joseph then said, “Ms. Lowell, you had better find Dr. Hart as soon as possible. Mr. Byers and Mr. Banks are still in the hospital too. Their conditions are critical, and they need Dr. Hart’s medical skills as well.”
Joseph had to remind Cora that the two men she had been fooling around with were still lying in the hospital. If she didn’t bring him back to treat them or find another renowned doctor, she could only watch them waste away in those hospital beds.
Joseph watched Cora’s expression. As expected, the moment he mentioned the two men, there was a noticeable pause in her
expression.
Cora stated, “I’ll find him as soon as possible. Then, I’ll try to convince him to put his personal feelings aside and prioritize saving lives. We can deal with everything else afterward.”
Cora glanced around the table. Everyone there had something to feel guilty about when it came to Joseph. None of them could face him without feeling awkward.
Cora was no exception. She wanted to see Joseph, but she was also afraid she wouldn’t be able to explain everything clearly. Perhaps he wouldn’t even give her a chance to explain. If that happened, the two of them would only end up arguing, creating an even bigger misunderstanding.

Joseph wasn’t the same man he had been before. He had built up connections, and his medical skills could save lives just as easily as they could destroy them. Cora had to remain vigilant.
