Joseph’s men took some prohibited chemical substances and combined them with a batch of rats. In the early hours of the morning, they released them into Emerald Mountain.

Before long, word spread that a plague had broken out in the area.

The health and disease-control authorities immediately launched an emergency response. A special task force was formed, Emerald Mountain was sealed off, and massive disinfection efforts began.

That same night, someone set fire to the newly renovated Maroon Mansion.

Coincidentally, a building belonging to the Towne family and Peyton’s nightclub were also burned to the ground.
