In Yara’s hospital room, Joseph gently offered her another bite, his eyes full of affection and his voice laced with concern. She couldn’t help but feel gloomy whenever she thought about her condition, but his concern filled her with warmth.

A smile spread across her face. “I’m feeling slightly better, but you’re the doctor here. Whatever you say goes.”

“You’re right. You’ve been recovering well. If you keep making progress like this, you won’t need an amputation.”

“Really?” The idea that she might not need an amputation filled her with joy.

“Of course. I’ve been looking into this for the past few days, and I think I’ve found a solution. I’ll make a few adjustments to the treatment plan Joseph used for Wesley. If everything goes as expected, we should see results in three or four days,” Joseph replied.

Yara was still useful to him because she could help him get the money from Skylar and the other Zahns. For that reason, he decided to keep her alive.

“Thanks, Henry! You’ve been so good to me. I won’t forget it. Once I’m better, I’ll do whatever you want.”

Joseph leaned closer and whispered a few words in Yara’s ear, and a flush instantly crept up her neck. “I’m not asking you to do it right now. You can do it once you’re feeling better.”

Joseph was quite pleased with Yara’s reaction. She didn’t seem to hold it against him, so he had a feeling she would do as he asked.

He then changed the subject and asked one of the injured Zahn family bodyguards, “Did someone try to attack Mr. Zahn Senior?”

“Don’t worry about that. He has the best guards protecting him. No one could possibly get past them,” Yara said confidently.

“But no matter how strong they are, there’s always someone stronger. Do you think it’d be a good idea to have Mr. Zahn Senior come to the hospital? After all, even if those attackers are prepared to go all out, I’m sure they wouldn’t dare start a fight in the hospital.”

“That’s adorable, but he’d never come to the hospital, and he doesn’t need to. Someone from the medical sect is already looking after him.”

“I still think the hospital’s the best to be in, but it’s fine. I’m just a nobody. I’ll let you guys deal with this.”

Joseph deliberately played naive. After chatting with Yara for a while, he called Beth in to take care of her while he went off to handle some work.

After eating and freshening up, Yara asked Beth if she had ever been with a man.

“Ms. Zahn, have you forgotten? You gave me to Mr. Turner before,” Beth replied, feeling a little bitter and sad, though she didn’t dare show it.

Beth worked for Yara, so she had to do whatever Yara asked of her.

“I almost forgot about that.” Yara then asked Beth to come closer and brought up what Joseph had asked her to do.

“He wants you to use your mouth? I never tried that, but Mr. Turner has his own preference.” Beth then whispered that Shane only used the back door.

Yara was a little uneasy. She was worried that Joseph would make all sorts of demands of her too. He was pretty ugly, and he might have all sorts of strange preferences. And yet, a part of her was looking forward to it./

Meanwhile, Joseph made his rounds to get a general idea of the patients’ conditions. But he did not help with the treatment and returned to his office instead.

Joseph checked the medical forum and saw a message from Katie. Helen had already reached out to her and was getting ready to see her for treatment. Katie was waiting for him to show up.
