A Man with Nerves of Steel (Joseph Hart) novel Chapter 672

Chapter 672

Fiona said, “I’m only here to deliver a message.”

Joseph’s sinister smile chilled her, especially the way it contrasted with his ugly face. Goosebumps broke out all over her body.

Joseph replied, “Well, if you’re here to deliver a message, then deliver one to Cora for me. Walt Loughlin at Jenton University Hospital isn’t fit to be brought back out of retirement. Tell her to send her lapdog back where he came from. Jenton University Hospital belongs in the hands of the Zahn medical sect.”

Joseph tossed several photographs of Walt’s past misconduct onto the table. “The internet never forgets. I also have photos of Joseph fooling around in the hospital dormitory. I wonder, if I bring those old scandals back to light, will repairing her relationship with Joseph become even harder?”

Fiona immediately said, “Don’t you dare do anything reckless.”

Fiona hadn’t expected Joseph to resort to such methods. He’d been a man from an ordinary background, but he suddenly gained the Zahn family’s backing. It seemed like he was truly intent on making the most of it.

She returned to report back.

Soon after, Joseph received a call from Cora. The first thing she said was, “Dr. Jebb, I really underestimated you.”

Joseph replied, “Not quite. In the past, I really was nothing to write home about. No matter how hard I tried or how much I racked my brains, I still couldn’t accomplish anything. I was destined to live an ordinary,

unremarkable life.

“But now I’ve transformed overnight and become the Zahn family’s son-in-law. And I’ve discovered that my ideas can actually become reality, and with tremendous results.

“Besides, you should have experienced the Zahn family’s power firsthand. You secretly carried on an affair with Skylar, and you gave him three daughters. In barely a dozen years, you went from an inexperienced young woman of the Lowell family to becoming the richest woman in Jenton.”

Joseph continued, “You mock me for using the Zahn family, but that’s just pure hypocrisy. You’ve done far more than I have.”

Cora retorted, “My success has nothing to do with Skylar. I have nothing to do with him.”

Joseph scoffed. “It’s not entirely accurate to say you have nothing left except your stubborn mouth, but you can’t deny the Zahn family’s subtle, behind-the-scenes assistance. If it weren’t the Zahn family, then who did you rely on? A couple of decades ago, the Lowell family wasn’t particularly impressive.”

Cora said, “I relied on myself.”

Joseph chuckled. “I believe you. Your ability is your own, and so is your beauty. Relying on yourself is nothing to be ashamed of.”

Cora turned the question back on him. “And what about your recent rise? Isn’t that because of your own abilities?”

Joseph shook his head. “No. I relied on the Zahn family.”

Joseph let out a low, mocking chuckle. His voice was hoarse, but it carried an unmistakable force. “Are you calling on behalf of Fiona, or Dr. Loughlin? Don’t worry. These days, I only have eyes on Yara. I’m not interested in other

women, and I certainly don’t have the guts for that.

“But I also have a responsibility to strengthen the Zahn medical sect. Walt should just stay retired.”
