A Man with Nerves of Steel (Joseph Hart) novel Chapter 680

Chapter 680

matter how many enemies came for him, Joseph swore he would deal with them all.

A vicious glint flashed through his eyes. The fact that Cora could call upon forces from another city genuinely surprised himi.

During the time he had lived with her, he had never once seen her bring anyone with the Dixon name back home. As far as he knew, she had rarely even traveled to Larkton on business.

And yet she had somehow managed to mobilize people from the Dixon family. That meant that Cora had been hiding things from him all these years.

Joseph himself had never visited the Foster and Payne families, but he could still get both families to do things for him. However, that was because he was a doctor. As long as he saved someone’s life, he established a connection

with them.

In the doctor-patient relationship, saving one’s life was one of the fastest ways to create both an obligation and a potential avenue for cooperation.

Cora was a liar.

Now Joseph understood that anyone who helped Cora would become his target.

That absurd request for Fiona was simply to unsettle Cora. He wanted Cora to become increasingly isolated.

Having children? He had no intention of doing that.

Before the Dixon family arrived, however, another matter he had been worried about happened first.

That day, Emerald Mountain sent two representatives to see him. One was Harry Zahn, an elderly man who was a senior figure within the Zahn medical sect. The other was Shane Turner, Owen’s personal bodyguard.

The two entered Joseph’s office.

They had Joseph report on his recent work, particularly the circumstances surrounding his takeover of the Traditional Medicine Center and Jenton University Hospital, including how everything had unfolded and the various arrangements he had made behind the scenes.

Then Harry announced that Joseph was to hand over control of everything. With a single sentence, the fruits of Joseph’s efforts over the past several days were being taken away.

Joseph didn’t hesitate and immediately began the handover.

Harry looked at him. “Henry, why are you being so cooperative? You haven’t even put up a fight. Could you be harboring some ulterior motive?”

Joseph first glanced at Shane before turning back to Harry. “Come on, you’re being a bit too cold. I know exactly how capable I am. Without the Zahn family, I’m nothing.

“If I were to mistake the opportunities and platform the Zahn family gave me for achievements that came entirely from my own ability, then I’d be completely ignorant of my place.”

Shane muttered disdainfully, “Such a cowardly little opportunist.”

Harry narrowed his eyes. “Then what are you planning to do after this?”

Joseph replied, “Yara’s condition has improved. I’ll take her home to recuperate for a while. It’ll also give me a

veryone might think that everything I’ve gained at the hospital is my most precious possession. But that’s not true. What I treasure most is still Yara.”

Harry nodded. “Approved. Bring Yara home and have a good rest. You should also work on improving your medical skills. Your performance in the last test was above average.”
