Chapter 694
Yra couldn’t help but think that Joseph’s feet were huge.
She then thought about Joseph’s other “assets”, and a sudden wave of thrill and utter satisfaction hit her. It made her even more desperate to get better.
Once she recovered, she could finally enjoy the good life!
Their group of three arrived at Emerald Mountain in no time.
After getting Yara settled in, Joseph was taken to meet the medical sect’s higher-ups. Harry, Jenna, and two other familiar faces were there.
Besides them, there were four other elders who made up the sect’s core leadership. If Reuben and Pamela were in good health, they would’ve been there too.
This review by the higher-ups was mostly just a formality. They asked the same old questions, and Joseph gave the same rehearsed answers. Then, just like that, they appointed him director of external affairs, making him one of the nine most powerful people in the sect.
His jurisdiction covered absolutely everything related to the medical sect outside of Emerald Mountain.
Inside Emerald Mountain, he was number nine in the pecking order, but outside? He was the one calling the shots!
He was also issued a badge that allowed him to move freely around the mountain grounds.
Jenna gave Joseph a meaningful look. After the meeting, she took him to the medical sect’s records room.
The second the door closed, she threw herself into his arms, kissing him passionately. She hadn’t seen him in days and had been dying to see him.
Unfortunately, she was on her period, so she couldn’t go all the way with Joseph. She could only light the fire, but she couldn’t help him put it out.
Joseph held himself back too. It had been days since he’d gotten any release, and if he slept with Jenna now, the way she walked out in public would instantly give them away.
There were guards posted at every turn, and security was incredibly tight. Nonetheless, the two of them had already reached a mutual understanding. Once they left Jenton, they would disappear together and start a new life.
They talked for quite a while before reluctantly parting.
Gemma happened to be away, so Joseph didn’t get to see her. After two days of training, he was officially sent back to the Traditional Medicine Center.
Once Joseph was back, his first order of business was to remove one of Skylar’s necrotic kidneys. And he didn’t inform Yara about it.
The next day, while he was busy in his office, Helen unexpectedly knocked and walked in. She was there to ask for his permission to visit Skylar in his ward.
Joseph thought about it for a second, then had Helen change into medical scrubs and shoes. After putting on a cap and mask, she underwent disinfection before being allowed into Skylar’s observation ward.
Joseph said, “Mrs. Lowell, you came at a bad time. He can’t exactly talk right now. Then again, maybe it’s the perfect time. He’s still in critical condition, and there’s a chance this could be the last time you see your son-in- law alive.”

“He is not my son-in-law. My son-in-law is that guy named Joseph Hart!” Helen said firmly. Her eyes filled with disgust as she looked at Skylar, who looked more dead than alive in the hospital bed.
She couldn’t help thinking that this plece of trash could not compare to Joseph. Even if Joseph came from nothing, at least he had a healthy body. Plus, he was a doctor, a capable one at that.
Joseph wasn’t particularly touched, though. He knew Helen was just the type to suck up to whoever was on top.
Joseph narrowed his eyes slightly and said, “You’re right. Even though he’s considered my future brother-in-law, morally speaking, he doesn’t hold a candle to Dr. Hart.
