A Man with Nerves of Steel (Joseph Hart) novel Chapter 701

Chapter 701

Joseph headed back to get some shut-eye and didn’t wake up until well past noon. He couldn’t help but feel a little exasperated.

Joseph might still be in decent shape, but he was middle-aged now. He couldn’t keep putting his body through the wringer.

Men really needed to learn how to take better care of their bodies.

He checked his phone. Cora hadn’t mentioned the divorce at all. Unsurprisingly, she had changed her mind.

“That bitch…”

Joseph let out a sigh. “Since Cora has already used ‘spending one last night together’ as her excuse this time, I wonder what she’s going to come up with next to stall the divorce.”

Joseph went to the office to catch up on some work, but unexpectedly, Harry came by.

When Harry asked where Joseph had gone, Joseph just said he went to do some research to find something that might help Yara, and they left it at that. After all, Yara’s condition was incredibly tricky, and their medical sect was completely stumped.

Harry said, “The day before yesterday was actually a golden opportunity to go after Bernard and use him to draw Joseph out.”

“I don’t have much experience in this area. Failing to make the right preparations in time and missing the opportunity is something I deeply regret. I-I’ll go apologize to Mr. Zahn Senior,” Joseph said.

If Bernard were to become seriously ill, he really would have been caught between a rock and a hard place, whether he went or not.

Harry remarked, “Well, that’s just the kind of person you are. If you were truly ruthless, you would’ve taken a different approach the first time you dealt with Kaya.”

“W-Who exactly is Kaya? Why would she go after Skylar?”

The truth was, Joseph had already dug up Kaya’s background through Yelena and Jenson. He was only asking to see how much Harry would spill so that he could gauge just how high his own standing within the medical sect

was.

Harry answered, “I shouldn’t be telling you this, but given your relationship with Skylar, you have a right to know. Kaya is with the Croma faction.”

“The Croma faction? Why would they want to harm Skylar?” Joseph questioned.

He was secretly a little pleased. The fact that Harry was willing to share an important secret like this meant his standing was pretty high now. Did this mean he had successfully infiltrated the enemy’s inner circle?

“It’s nothing personal-it’s strictly business. Since there are so many families in the Croma faction crammed into that tiny city, there simply isn’t enough to go around.

“That’s why they have to expand outward, which means they’re going to clash with the local families. And Jenton happens to be one of their targets. But Jenton belongs to the Zahn family.”

Joseph feigned a look of understanding. “And if the Croma faction wants Jenton, they have to get through the Zahns first. So what’s our move?”

“The big picture is the main family’s problem. What we need to do is hold down the fort in the medical field. Oh, By the way, Yvette over at Jenton University Hospital is with the Croma faction. You should watch your back around her.”

“Sir, dealing with people isn’t exactly my strong suit, so I’ll be counting on your guidance from here on out. Our Miracle Doctor mentioned that the medical sect will be choosing a new leader soon. I just want you to know that you have my full support.”

“I’m flattered,” Harry said, seemingly pleased.

He mused, “Henry sure knows how to play the game. Becoming the head of the medical sect is exactly my goal

Harry went on to share some secrets and funny anecdotes about the medical sect. His stories were heavily peppered with dirty jokes, to the point where Joseph suspected some of the bedroom conquests he was bragging about were actually his own.

Joseph thought, “So he’s a lecher. Then I’ll use beautiful women to take him down…”

After coming up with a way to deal with Harry, Joseph decided to probe a little further. He discovered that Harry was into curvy women-the curvier, the better.
