Cora asked, “If it wasn’t you, then who was it?”

Joseph scoffed. “Just listen to you. You just can’t wait to dump the blame on me. You people have never trusted me. If I really could kidnap your mother, I’d be standing at the top of Jenton. I’d have trampled both you and the Zahn family under my feet.

Cora replied, “If it wasn’t you, then explain yourself to my father. He suspects you now.”

Joseph sneered. “Is it only your father that suspects me? I’m pretty sure the first one to suspect me was you.”

He promised that he would see Bernard, then hung up.

He muttered to himself, “Cora, you’re right to suspect me. You think you can just establish some ridiculous Hart Group and somehow cover up the fact that you cheated on me? Do you think I’ll forgive you? Keep dreaming.”

That evening, after Cora left the sanatorium, Joseph went to see Bernard.

When he walked inside and called out to Bernard, Bernard looked like he’d been hit right in the face.

Only then did Bernard recognize him. His expression immediately darkened with rage. “You ungrateful brat. How dare you show your face in front of me? Do you want to die?”

Joseph scoffed. “Why wouldn’t I come here? Do you think there’s anywhere in Jenton that I don’t dare to go? I only came to tell you I didn’t kidnap Helen. Don’t pin everything on me. I’m busy preparing for surgery. Unlike you, I don’t have that much free time.”
