Chapter 731

When Yara returned late that night, she called Beth over and asked in a low voice, “Did Henry not wake up at all?

Beth shook her head. “He was completely knocked out. Did we give him too much?”

Yara raised an eyebrow. “What do you mean? Is he dead?”

Beth said, “No. He’s just snoring like a freight train. It seems like he’s sleeping well.”

Yara replied, “Then did you do what I told you and help him deal with things?”

Beth spread her hands helplessly. “He didn’t react at all. He was just completely out of it.”

Beth had no idea that Joseph had deliberately made himself unresponsive. There was no way he was going to let someone like her have her way with him.

He had to play the part of a completely helpless man. If he couldn’t do it, then he couldn’t. No matter how much the woman tried, it would only be a one-sided effort. It took two hands to clap, after all.

Yara, however, took this as a lesson and decided that they should use the same dosage from now on. It was enough to knock Joseph out cold while also ensuring he wouldn’t be capable of anything intimate.

She returned to the bedroom, carefully climbed into bed, and slipped beneath the covers.

The truth was, she didn’t feel sleepy at all. She had searched everywhere Joseph might have gone, but hadn’t found a trace of him. Even her informants had failed to turn up the slightest clue.

It was as if the man had simply vanished into thin air.

That frustrated her to no end.

But she had no idea that the man she was searching for wasn’t somewhere far away. In fact, he was right beside

her.

Joseph had opted not to expose Yara’s actions because he was fishing for something. He wanted to see where Yara would go. He also wanted to see how she would access the hidden wealth she had refused to tell him about

or hand over.

If she wouldn’t reveal it willingly, then he would simply let her lead him to it herself.

As long as Yara believed he was safely at home, she’d feel free to go about her own business.

He knew that Yara’s heart didn’t belong to him anymore. He remained perfectly still, his mind clear. The woman beside him was sharing his bed, but another man occupied her thoughts.

Before long, Yara fell asleep, but Joseph remained wide awake. His thoughts drifted to Cora. Back then, she’d gone drinking with others, gone to hot springs, or even gotten hotel rooms with others. She must have been like this, too.

Women all seemed to be experts at this.

The next morning, Joseph saw Yara sitting in her wheelchair again, but he didn’t expose her. He simply

pretended not to know that she was already capable of walking and headed to the hospital.

Around noon, he received a message from Cheryl. The Dixon family had sent a reconciliation team to Jenton to negotiate peace with him.

Later that evening, both Katie and Paula left him messages, saying that representatives from the Dixon family wanted to meet him.

Joseph refused outright. “Tell the Dixon family’s representatives to get out of Jenton immediately. Otherwise, they’ll bear the consequences.”
