Chapter 735
Joseph didn’t go looking for Cora. He didn’t want to see her.
Of course, that didn’t mean he had nothing to do.
Instead, he began gathering evidence of illegal conduct by certain doctors within the Zahn medical sect, particularly bribery and accepting kickbacks. He then had his subordinates report them to the relevant authorities under the guise of being concerned citizens from Jenton.
Those people were taken away by law enforcement remarkably quickly after the initial report. The authorities merely called Joseph and told him they needed to take in several people from the hospital and would require his cooperation.
Naturally, Joseph cooperated. Only after the medical sect’s doctors had been arrested did he call Harry to discuss the matter.
Harry blamed Joseph for failing to protect the medical sect’s doctors, but Joseph had plenty to say about that. After all, those things had happened before Joseph took over. He hadn’t even known what those people had been doing, so how was he supposed to protect them?
Their past misconduct had simply come back to haunt them. The moment everything came to light, there was nothing Joseph could do except cooperate with law enforcement.
Harry, however, continued to blame him. He even threatened to impeach Joseph and demanded that he give up his current position. However, Harry never expected that Emerald Mountain would soon abandon him.
The obese woman he’d been involved with had a family, and she reported Harry for sexual assault. When the authorities arrived at Emerald Mountain, the Zahn family had no choice but to hand Harry over.
The moment Harry was taken into custody, Joseph was sitting in his office, calmly crossing Harry’s name off a
list.
Seven names sat above Henry’s on the list. Jenna’s name was also on the list, along with several people who supported her. So realistically, only four serious obstacles remained.
Once Joseph brought down those four standing in his way, he would have far greater influence within the medical sect. In fact, he might even become its leader outright.
Excluding the medical sect’s leaders who had already gone abroad and Jenna’s group, only two senior figures remained at Emerald Mountain. Both of them were at least in their 60s.
Even without his engagement to Yara, the Zahn family wasn’t going to withdraw their support for him. Joseph wanted Yara to wait and see how he would slowly toy with her until she was dead.
Joseph shredded the piece of paper before inviting those two remaining leaders to meet. With so many medical sect doctors being arrested for past crimes, they would obviously need replacements.
Joseph could provide them and even place his own people in those positions, but he knew that control over personnel was both a bargaining chip and bait. All he had to do was put it on the table and wait for those two old men to bite.
Ever since Joseph learned that Yara had signaled Emerald Mountain that she wanted to break off their

engagement, he hadn’t returned to Yara’s home even once. Yara didn’t seem particularly interested in looking for him, either.
Without Joseph weighing her down, she was probably enjoying her newfound freedom. Yara was also confident that once she met the real Joseph face-to-face, she could convince him to help her make sure she wouldn’t actually get married to Henry.
She could give Joseph both money and sex, so surely Joseph couldn’t simply abandon her.
Unfortunately, Joseph never responded to any of her messages, which left her increasingly anxious.
Joseph also knew that Yara had secretly gone out of town. She had disguised herself thoroughly and even used a false identity when undergoing medical examinations, particularly when she had herself tested for toxins.
Naturally, the results came back negative. Yet the negative results made her increasingly uneasy.
